Magic Urn

These damn things in Cavern of the Stolen Fayth. They say there's seven prizes in all, but you've got to hot the correct one of five eyes to get anything -- and then you've got to do that again, and again, and again...well you get the idea. My questions are -- Is there any pattern to this? What do you get if you do manage to get more than a couple in a row? (My best so far has been three.) Could anybody help me with this? I'd appreciate it, thanks.

EDIT: I've also read (about two minutes ago) that one of the enemies in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth is Tonberry. I've already killed more than enough Master Toberries. But I haven't run across a Tonberry yet. Is there a certain area, or a certain thing I have to do, to get to one? I've got everything but a Tonberry and the stuff from inside Sin.

I hate those damn urns. I've never found any pattern, and I've never managed to kill one because it's a damn ***** in a huge ****ing jar. The only thing I've gotten is a phoenix down, and that was once.
If they're anything more annoying than Tightass, it's running into those ten times in a row.

But Tonberries, they're around. I find them in those little rooms in the caves most of the time.

I discovered with Magic Jars that there is no pattern whatsoever, its luck of the draw everytime. I'm not even sure if its actually possible to kill one, maybe by using an overdrive?

Tonberry's are damn hard to find. I've been looking for them for my monster collection but they're rare little buggers so you've got to stick with it.

Good luck with that.

I tried to attack the lower left or right and I got an elixer, so maybe you should start with the bottom. Good Luck!

Like I said, I've gotten three correct hits in a row once, but it's all random, so there's no tellin'.

Along with a Tonberry, I'm looking for ... hell, I dunno. The big worm thing inside Sin. I have one empty slot in that section of the Monster Arena thing, but the only time I fought any of the worm things is when I've already gone too far to go back. I guess I'll just look around the rest of the place, one's bound to pop up somewhere.

Any strategies on beating some of the mix-and-match creatures in the Arena? Or getting more Dark Matter, so I can put Break Damage Limit on one of Tidus' weapons (for Blitz Ace) or Wakka's weapons (for Attack Reels)?

I used to find that hitting the bottom right, then the top left and the middle was a small pattern for me. Could be luck but it always seemed to do it.

Dark Matter? You do realise you need 99 of them before you can put BDL on a weapon. I found the easiest (but very time consuming i'm afraid) way was to fight Stratoavis (the first of the area conquest creatures) over and over again. Every few battles will yield a single dark matter (two if you Overkill it), or 2/4 Amulets. Fortunately, Amulets can be sold for 3750 Gil each so you'll easily have enough money to fight it enough times.
It takes along time, but if you stick with it you'll feel great when tidus smacks an enemy for 99,999 damage.

Either that or try and unlock their Celestial weapons! (As they all have BDL on them).

You looking for the last monster huh?

look at this list. All the monsters from "inside Sin"
Exoray
Wraith
Gemini A (armed with sword)
Gemini B (armed with club)
Demonolith
Great Malboro
Barbatos
Adamantoise
Behemoth King

That should be all of them.

It is kind of hard. My advice would be to just try to do the first one and then run away. It is really hard when the stupid jar explodes and you got nothing left and all your guardians get a low HP.

Well i have fought those Urns a lot and i mean a lot but i couldnt find a pattern of any sort. I have had every treasure from this annoying fiend nut i wouldnt think it is worth it. The treasures can be found in easier places.

As for the Tonberry's, well they are VERY RARE to find. It can take a long time to even fight and capture 1 of those things never mind capturing 10 of them. All you have to do is get yourslef set for a long day and just look all over the Sunken Caverns and you MIGHT encounter 1 (maybe more).

If you even need anymore help with FFX then PM me and i will help you. I know everything there is to this game so i am like 1 of the best people to ask.

Well hope i helped you there.
Have a great day.

I just use the stupid things bump up my flee count for the overdrive mode.

But for the mix and match monsters in Monster Arena...
Start off with beating Juggernaut to boost you Strength Stat
Then Tanket for defence. If you boost thes stats, the monster arena becomes seriously easy fast.

If your on PAL version and really strong just continually beat Dark Yojimbo for 2 Dark Matter each fight. Remember that leaving the cave via the teleporter resets him. But if you're on NTSC version i think that increasing luck will up you chances of rare drops. Just that increasing luck takes forever.
