Yeah, except one problem: Equip Sword and Short Charge take up the same S-Ability slot, and without Short Charge, Cherry Blossom will NEVER EVER go off. Even if you cast Stop or Don't Move on your target, the status will wear off and the target will get a turn before Cherry Blossom fires. Magic Attack-UP suffers from the same problem; sure, it'd jack your damage up by 50% (i.e. Cherry Blossom = MA * 90... wow) but it would take so much work to hit with it that... well, if you spent that much effort just to hit things normally, you'd have killed the target a long time ago.

And I know Raine answered this question, but MA is your Magic Attack. It is the primary stat used to calculate the effectiveness of almost all attacks in Black Magic, White Magic, Time Magic, Yin Yang Magic, Summon Magic, Talk Skill, Draw Out, Elemental (sort of... that's a weird formula that also depends on PA), Limit, Truth, Un-Truth, and also any basic attacks with a Staff, Stick, Dictionary, Harp, or (I believe) Carpet. Actually, the latter 3 also use your PA, but... whatever. Many monster skills also depend on MA.

I know this is an off topic question but is the chaos blade the most powerful weapon? If so can cloud equip it without ever having to get rid of the materia blade, and short charge?

I think for Cloud, the most powerful weapon doesn't really matter. Well.. it does if you want to attack physically. But remember his Limits are MA based, so I don't really remember if the Chaos blade has high MA or not. And like awall said, having two blades doesn't affect his limits.

Weapons don't (in general) increase your PA or MA. They only increase your WP which, again, is completely irrelevant for Limits. If you really wanted to equip a second sword, you'd be best off with a Rune Blade, because that gives a +2 bonus to MA. That said, you really don't want 2-swords on Cloud, because unless you're a ninja, equipping 2-swords will prevent you from equipping Short Charge or Magic Attack-UP or anything else that would actually help Cloud. (And if you are a ninja, you won't be able to equip the Materia Blade unless you equip EquipSword, which also prevents you from having Short Charge or Magic Attack-UP.)

Chaos Blade indeed is the most powerful weapon in the game, but the only classes that can equip it (that characters in your party can use) are Knight, Holy Knight, Divine Knight, Temple Knight, and Holy Swordsman. Equip Sword will not help you out here, as the Chaos Blade is not a sword; it's a knightsword. And besides, all it will give Cloud is Auto-Regen; it won't increase the power of his Limits at all.
