In fact, it should be infinitely easier for them, because all they need to do is add a single line of code for each item. It's far easier to track electronic point transfers than it is for an entire country to track cash and credit. If we can do it in real life, why the heck can't we do it in fake life? Bah, I say. But it doesnt have to be every item, just the big-ticket things..
The problem is, it could get to the point that everyone always sets stuff at its max value, relying on that instead of fairly setting prices. Instead of having an economy that fluctuates, it stays the same price at all times. Of course, this isn't necessarily a bad thing in itself if the max prices are reasonable. You will always know you wont be paying 15 million for something that can only be maxed at 1million. You won't be getting shafted.
