I actually agree with you on that one. FFX was FAR from my favorite game... I thought it was decent, but overall I didn't really enjoy it. The sphere grid, however, was the best way I've seen to level up in any Final Fantasy title yet.

Yes, I agree with that. The sphere grid was the best in my opinion because it was a lot easier than Final Fantasy VIII. In FF8, it took me a while to actually learn how to use the junctioning system properly.

I would have to agree also. Using the sphere grid was sort of a no-brainer. Plus, you got the advantage of mixing and matching characters strengths fairly easily without having to take others away.

While the sphere grid was by far the most innovative system they'd ever done, I disagree with the sentiment that they should stick with it. If they had just found one system that people liked and used it for the remainder of the series, we'd still be using the materia system. Sure the sphere grid was great, but I'd rather see a new idea come up in the future than be stuck using it forever.

I would like to see them reuse some old systems (like FF8's junctioning) but iron out the kinks to make them more balanced and interesting... but only for one game or so; after that, let old systems die in peace.

And as far as my favorite system ever... well, I'm gonna have to say that the sphere grid was the most interesting idea, but there are many ways they could have executed it better than they did. But level-up system is only one part of the game; FFX-2 had a completely brainless level-up system, but a fascinating battle engine. A weakness in one area can be compensated for by a strength in another.

The Sphere Grid was good, only a bit linear now and then. It also gave the opportunity for each character to have the same stuff. Which is kinda strange.

Well, you all know what I am going to say: Materia! I loved the Materia system because you could equip anything on anyone, and you could be very creative in that. The wide selection of Materia made it everything BUT linear, because the choice was up to you whether you gave it to Cloud or to Barret for instance.

I admit ffx was good for the sphere grid but I would have to go with Final Fantasy 7 for the materia I think that was by far the best.

they should maintain the sphere grid system...well at least for x-2 untill xii series...but square did not do that...they just keep using the traditional system...well you can see this in x-2...beat the enemy and automaticly will increase your level...to be honest...i hate this...and it lift down my spirit to play ff (its bored)...sometimes square make me crazy...it was bullshit...yeah i deserve to say that as one of the biggest ff fans...

I'd have to go with the Sphere Grid too, but second would go to FFVI, and Materia wouldn't even be in the mix. Whereas your characters were prettymuch useless without equipped Materia, characters in FFVI learned spells from Magicite and abilities with their levels, and kept their abilities when they moved to learn new ones. Characters didn't develop with Materia, the Materia developed.

ive got to agree with this, yes the sphere grid was very good and it mean you could customize your characters a lot. However fvi's espers were some fo the best summons i've ever seen i mean the bahamuts has to be one of my fav bahamuts from any ffand learning magic was a helluva lotfaster then learning naturally(in terra and celes' case) and everyone could learn magic

Prehaps Im the only 1 that thinks this but I like the costume system on FFV, with a bit of work this could of had a lot of potential, the 1s on FFX-2 dont seem nearly as cool to use but you could do more with it. I liked the sphere grid system, i spent hours catching all the monsters for the arena so I took full advantage of the Arena, the only thing is it got incredibly boring trying to get 99999hp and i never got there i may play it again and when i get to the end i will continue to level up from there

The Materia System, but i also love the simplistic weapon/item levelling up abilities present in FFIX and FFT.

The Sphere Grid was a great idea, but sometimes i couldn't be bothered to go onto it, and think where to send each individual characters, i'd rather just get on with the storyline.

The Junction System is a letdown, i actually remember completing the game on level 11 because of the fact that the
enemies level up wth you. I never used any magic either, as you use say some Ultima you have junctioned to your strength, and you then lose some strength from your stats!

I thought this system was very strange and took a lot of the fun out of setting enemies on fire or blowing them up with magic because you are forever thinking what has that done to my strength stats.

The materia system like i said already is the greatest system, highly customiseable, many different combinations, and no adverse effects on your stats everytime you use spells, its flawless.
