Making a Music Genre FAQ, based on your opinions, is not helping this board.

Having actual decent discussions about music and bands, will.

EDIT: The sheer fact that you find there to be any metalcore influences in Children of Bodom is astounding, as is your ability to think Nuclear Assault are.

Here are some metalcore bands worth listing.

Despised Icon
The Red Chord
Overcast
Between the Burried and Me
Ion Dissonance

Like I said, metalcore is pretty difficult to define. However, I can always edit my post to include what you've said aswell and say that Children of Bodom and Nuclear Assault are disputed for their listing.

Besides, Even though I kind-of did imply my opinion was the ultimate, I didn't really intend to to be. Discuss things, go right ahead. The more discussion the better.

I said 'like' a hippy. A hippy protests without giving alternative (usually). Thats the comparison I made.

No dispute about it, saying COB and Nuclear Assault are metalcore is like saying The Beatles are black metal.

I can hardly agree with that comparison. But could you tell me what you consider metalcore?

Infact, if I listed other genres that were not sub-genres of heavy-metal, I probably wouldn't be called up about it. Ahh, the fantastic beauty of a forum full of metal-heads. ^_______________^

All my favorite bands (including my own band) are post-extreme-vegan-opera-owl-scream-hair-core. Can anyone post anymore artists of the same genre?

First of all anything with "core" is usually fairly sh!t. As for genre's there are too many bands that are considered the same genre and sound completely different, but to be honest the only people that can really classify the bands perfectly themselves, thats not to say you can't label them a genre themselves, plus a lot of the "tr00" fans will agree with other "tr00" fans. If you really want to see what a real metal band is considered then you could always look up their official site or www.metal-archives.com ...

glam didn't start in the 80's, it began when david bowie released ziggy stardust, continued (sort of?) with the new york dolls, then plowed through the 80's to end up tired and mutated on marlin manson's door step.

but seriously, over-classification and departmentalization of music is one of the things destroying the objective analyzation of music these days. whether you consider a band to be power metal or black metal doesn't change a single goddamned thing about the music itself - so why does it even matter? it's all an intellectual jerk off IMHO...

Actually Powermetal and Blackmetal are quite differant and thats why they have the classification, black metal is more raw and basic structures to create a dark atmosphere, where as powermetal is more melodic and uses more keyboards. And BM doesnt have to be satanic, as powermetal can use harsh vocals. Hence why there are genres in the first place

while I do believe in categorization for the purpose of describing a band (in a general sense), I'd much rather suggest a band to someone instead.

Really, whats the point in saying "Hey, I really like heavy metal" when you could say "Hey, I've been listening to such and such band, etc". Word of mouth is a powerful asset for bands.

._. That is a stupid idea.

Saying I like "insert genre" is alot more efficient than naming a list of bands.
