Inventory | I think it'll still be good too. I've played the demo and it is a good deal different, but it was still fun and all. There's also no random battles, you can see them all on the screen. Unfortunately, on the demo most of the monsters were aggressive so you can't just walk right past them, they'll still attack you and chase you. I don't know if it'll be like that in the actual game though. Also, you can choose between wait and active just like in past FF games.

Inventory | So you do not like the idea of playing with an effeminate male character. Vaan is all right with me, but I do not like Ashe. Thus, I would put Ashe in the back seat.

Inventory | Well, it's FF, of course you're stuck with a party... Though battles are in the 'real world' and your party members walk around with you (instead of casually disappearing), I thought battles were still only fought with three people. Dangit, I want the demo. What really disappoints me about this game is the lack of innovative characters. They look too much alike! For troy's sake, can the hero NOT be blond and tan for once? Can the heroine not resemble every other FF chick? Ashe looks exactly like Yuna, only with slightly lighter hair. HONESTLY. Can there be no airships for a time? And no Darth Vader incarnates ruling the place? Ah well. I want it anyway.

Inventory | I'm definitly looking forward to this game. The battle system is different but good. I've also seen the trailer and it was awesome. But the main character looks like a loser. But you can't judge a book by it's cover so I hope I'm wrong.

Inventory | Damn loser is right. And I tottally agree with Ambika's comment.Ashe really does look like Yuna too much.Yeah,we know Yuna is a popular FF gyal butdo u have to fashion all FFgirls to look like her?Penelope, from what I heard is a cross of Selphie and Tifa. They she is a kinda martial artist and she took Selpie's hairdo.Bara-Barthello-Barafai,or whatever the fella's name is who uses a gun-I aint like him much,he leans too much on the Vaan-side,buuut since he's fran's friend I'll let him slide.Fran on the other hand is a good character, she can use all kinds of weapons especially longranged ones, and I always liked Vieras, plus she seems kinda Lulu/Paine-ish and the player will have to figure out her past. I like how they set it in Ivalice but I detect over customization of the characters because of this Esper thing. We shall have no designated Bmages/Wmages/Summoners,so there may be no need for certain characters(unfortunately) I wasnt expecting it to be a continuation of FFTA or so but I wanted it to be a little better and arranged in terms of job classes. But all in all I have high expectations of this game(cant say the the same for Vaan) since its the first FF game I "waited" for(yup,I didnt know much bout FF till 2004).If the voice acting is good, everything might fall in place ![]()

| The Quiet One | Well in the demo they had split up 6 of the characters into two parties. And while I doubt it will be like that all the time. My best guess would be that during parts of the game you will not have all the party members together, which would make you use other characters. Plus, from looking at the magic list on the characters, there are pretty clearly defined jobs, with modifications. I know that Ashe, Vaan, Penelo, and Fran have Cure, though Penelo and Fran have Cura, or at least Penelo did, but I noticed a lot of healing coming from Fran. Penelo is a definite White Mage time, she has a lot of White Magic spells and a few Green Magic. Vaan has two White Magic spells, he can basicly just heal himself a little when in trouble. He does though has a large list of Black Magic spells, like Ashe did, as did Basch, though he seems to have a smaller list. Balthier had no White Magic at all, I think he only had Time and Black Magic. Most of the characters tended to have two groups and the none of the rest. Though I think Ashe and Vaan have a more diverse spread. Vaan looks like a Red Mage in build almost, much like Ashe, though with her higher damage numbers I would lean towards a strong Dark Knight with a White Mage Sub. I have played the Demo twice on both modes, more for pleasure than anything else, because I am addicted FFXI, FFXII is the same game almost on may levels. But I'll be looking more into the mechanics and spells later since you can only play the same two levels so many times. And as far as I can tell, though I have not played FFTA, FFXII will be an independent story not affected by FFTA, other than to say that there are judges in the game. Considering the story of FFT, I would say that FFXII probably takes place in its past, because they talked a little about airships and technology that would place FFXII in the past, rather than the same time period or future time period. As for characters, Ashe was modeled from a french woman, and most of the characters were design having European features. So whatever similarities you are finding are just looking at a glance. I mean hair aside, Ashe looks nothing like Yuna, not to mention her attitude. She is wielding a sword and out for revenge almost to restore her destroyed kingdom, making her a very aggresive character. She also asked Balthier to kidnapper, so if anything she would be like Garnet. Though Garnet is timid, and my impressions of Ashe are anything but, she is not the White Magic heroine that we normally see. She is probably more like Rinoa or Tifa who were more forward aggressive characters. Vaan, yeah looks a little like Tidus and I do not know a lot about his own character background other than he has a brother who seems to be ill, or prisoned or something not made clear. Or he is dead, but his brother turned into particles of light and he was bringing flowers. Vaan also has a girlfriend and wants to be a pirate, sounds more like Zidane, than anyone else. Though I doubt Vaan is the womanizer/lady's man that Zidane was. But having a girlfriend, means there is not going to be a romance in the story between Vaan and Ashe, quite different from any of the last few FFs. Also if I remember right, Vaan and Penelo argue a lot and are having relationship problems, but Vaan and Ashe will not be an issue. Balthier and Fran, they are partners, considering he is a pirate, one only makes the assumption Fran is too. Finding a likeness for them in previous FF games would be different. Considering he is an airship pilot or pirate, that could make him like Cid, but it is always a staple of FF to have a Cid and Balthier is not spell C.I.D, so he is not Cid. Balthier does have a flamboyant style with the colorful rings clashing with his more noble clothes, and a little cocky, which could make him like Zidane. Down to appearances though, you find a hard time matching those two up. And Fran well the only one you'll find remotely similar is Freya, but her originality is not in question. Basch is a traitor as far as I remember, or at least branded one. What his actions were are a little unclear, I think he killed his commanding officer maybe. But his past a little gray and definitely hard to place someone with in appearance. Penelo, at least in some of her CG art looks like a dancer. Though I do not know if the job will affect anything, she is a White Mage by the way she had a larger pool of MP and spells. Down to appearances, you have some similarities with Selphie, but you are looking at hair again, with that out of the picture they are nothing alike. Summing up, stop looking at a glance and seeing similar hair styles, because you get past that and suddenly they are totally different people. If you want to compare the game to anything, compare it to FFXI, because game play almost looks stolen from it. Though with the idea in mind that it is a single player, so you get to see your action meters and you control or let the computer control the other party members. There are a few things that are different from FFXI though, monsters attack other attacks. You can see that in the wait mode, where mandies were always getting assualted by monsters. I am not sure how much they will do that, but I have wanted to see monsters in FFXI fight each other. Because really, would two monsters just stare each other down, if one is a predator. I look forward to see the monster's AI in FFXII seeing as it will be greatly affected in this system. Not to mention monsters ganging up on you. I have watched Goblins heal, cast protect, shell, and do other buffs in FFXI, so I am hoping to see that and more in FFXII. One thing I am glad for is rotating camera finally, it took Square long enough to stop giving us fixed scenery. Being able to move the camera the way I want is something that I have always enjoyed about FFXI and DQVIII, makes me want to take screenshots when playing FFXII though. | ||||||||

Inventory | Vaan's brother is killed by Basch. I'm sure this happens at the very start of the game, or else they wouldn't have divulged that information. Basch kills the king of Dalmasca because he sells out the country to the Arcadia Empire, and then he kills Vaan's brother for knowing about it. I think the gameplay in this one is gonna be the best the series has seen in awhile. The battle system from what I have played definitely looks like it will be more enjoyable than previous installments. As far as main characters goes, I think we're gonna need a change with XIII. I mean, whatever happened to badass main characters like Cloud, Squall, and Cecil. The last 3 games have had young pretty boys for main characters. Need something a little different...

Inventory | Indeed. We need the badass ppl like CCS(FF:badass < ).Zidane could be bad,Tidus can be bad but I can't picture Vaan being bad up.Yes,I should play the demo but I have lots of time till it actually comes out.[To Andromeda] From your description.Pass the hair lies deep characters.I would say Yuna is passive but in FFX2 she got a weapon change:-guns(gun+ sword = ).In terms of jobs.I hope the characters don't go back to FFVII.By that I mean, one person doing everything cause I heard someone saying that there's an esper sys.Overcustomization, that I am afraid of.It's good that Penelo is a WM but I heard that she could get physical. My so far - fav character Fran is who I'm concerned about. You said that she does potent WM spells.I also hear that she's good with nearly all weapons.I am detecting contrast with the jobs so I hope she doesnt turn out to be just a healer with bad weapons. PS:It's just Ashe's style seems like Yuna. But after all Yuna is not a Princess but a High Summoner and there were no agressive summoners so u cant expect a ruff character from Yuna.

| The Quiet One | Well I am not sure about the Espers, and even the game review sites are not completely sure, but from the Demo, only two people had Espers. Which has brought them, and myself partially, to the conclusion that the only people with Espers are Vaan and Ashe. I do not know if SE has confirmed this or not since I have read so many different things on FFXII and a lot of things are stil a little vague. But I do not know, but I find a little unlikely that SE would reuse an older system. If you look at their games, they have always changed it for each game, even FFX-2 which could have easily had the Sphere Grid revamped or something, SE opted for something completely different, with the only thing closely in appearance to a Sphere Grid is the Dressphere Grid. But anyway, I think there is going to be a little more of set jobs for FFXII or set skill list. If it is like Tactics in anyway, they did have specific jobs with specific skills available, so if they follow that in any fashion, I doubt there will be a ton of customizing of your characters jobs. Also the game is based a lot on online games, so I figure it will take a similar role and be more specific with what you can and cannot have on your characters. We will probably see something more like FFIX or old school FF, than like FFVII, FFVIII, and FFX where you can make your characters uber strong with all the abilities in the game or any that you want. I tend to prefer it that way, makes you use the other characters more since there is specialization. Well Ashe is a summoner right now in the demo, or at least she can summon espers. I do not know how it will all work out. Though I have been finding pictures lately that look different from the Ashe I have seen, so I do not know, could just be the angle that is in the shot making her seem definite. Though what confuses me more is the cover of the demo manual, Ashe face looks total different almost than all the other shots I have seen of her, while everyone else looks as they did. So I do not know what is up, maybe there was some last minute changes or something, or just old art. | ||||||||

Inventory | Oh plz. U could never tell when a FF is set exactly. You just have two things to stick with. Whether its midieval or so or futuristic. I doubt it took place b4 FFT PS1 because it has airships and looks kinda between future and midieval. But SE is really unpredictable and I agree with Andromeda on saying that they may not re-use something. If those espers were confined to Ashe. That would be good. With too much espers with different ppl, things get crazy with espers. They overcustomize too much. Plus there has never been a game with two summoners. There is the exception of multiple mages but never summoners. I can't say, but somehow I think SE boobooed with this a bit. When I play the demo I will make decisions for sure.WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT . The battle system aint turn based?!?!?!?! I thought it would be movin around like FFX-2. Attack a distant foe and you'll be distant, attack a close-up foe and you'll be close-up.This is uber strange

| The Quiet One | It is still a turned base system, to a degree. The only difference is that you are no longer dropped into a random battle. You fight the enemies when you see them, you tend to fight one enemy more often than a whole group of them. Though it is possible for a mob attack, but seeing as each single enemy is stronger than the usual single enemy in previous FF games, fight 3 enemies here is a lot more dangerous than fighting 3 enemies in say FFIX. And here is why... First, it is similar turn base system, however, this is only take to the point that it takes time to attack and cast spells. This means like in FFX-2 enemies will attack without regard to whether you are ready to fight or make command. But all things take time, just like in a normal turn based fight. Though if you hestiate and do nothing, all you will be doing is attacking and nothing more, if that, since you have to say attack first. All the monsters and characters have their own meters like normal, so they will take their turns as usual. The difference is you are out in the field that you are walking it. So turns are still there, but you will not be prompt to make every attack, you make new decisions when you want. So if you think about it, it is just like FFVII, VIII, IX, it just that they they are not prompting you for a new command every turn, you can change on the fly. So if you need to heal, you do not need to wait until your next turn. Just put the command it and it will happen. Which means it is actually better for you. Because do not hate it when a boss knocks you down to low HP, and your WHM/healer already Cured someone else, so you have to risk another turn and hope you do not die. Well that problem is over. The other thing is that if you put in too many commands, they will que up, so you say Cure and then after say Blizzard, it will do the Cure and the follow up starting on the Blizzard. Plus your other characters in the party can be on full auto, where the AI controls them or you can to full manual control, where they will wait for commands from you like traditional turned base, or even be on auto and just give them a command when you want them to do something specific. So I would say that it is a good system, but I am used to since it is taking from the FFXI system a lot. Though there are a few changes from that system, mainly there is no TP, which I have sort of gotten used to. | ||||||||

Inventory | I think the Final Fantasy series is wonderful. It has some of my favorite rpg's and I say it's good that it's trying to do something new. I have no idea of it's gonna be a massive success for them, or completely blow up in their face with what i've heard about this new one. I hope it goes well though, but even if it doesn't I have to give them some credit, because they want to see what's new. They'de like to test the limits which is admirable, and I hope it turns out well for them when it's all said and done.
