Xbox 360 vs. Xbox

Personally i like the Xbox so it's big and heavy and looks like an armored tank it a awsome system with lots of great games, and the Xbox 360 came a little too soon for my taste. Considering that the Xbox has only been around for a few years and it is still going to be awhile befor the Xbox 360 replaces the Xbox if ever..
But then thats just my opinon

I dunno man...

That's like saying... NES vs. SNES

They're both great, but of course the newer one is going to replace it... simply because they stop making games for the original. Which blows. But still, Xbox is over rated. GameCube and PS2 are much better.

Xbox 360 came out pretty ahead of all the other console systems out there. Thus, I think they are paying because of that. Lots of the new 360s are having problems like you said Rikkuffx, I think they were rushing it to have it available by the Christmas season..

Few are saying that their 360s just stop within a certain time in the game. I personally will wait until PS3 and co start coming out with their new systems. Its always unwise to quickly buy the first wave of any new console.. like back when Xbox came out.. a lot of them weren't produced with fans in the system. Whole console fried out. So, its best just to wait.. its much to expensive for my taste right now. X.x;

Agreed.

Remember when the Nintendo 64 first came out? That mofo cost nearly $500! I just waited a couple months and it was down to 100 something? Who knows...

My PS2 was pretty expensive though... But It was MUCH worth it. I bought a year after everyone else... with the net pack (which I've never used ) and GTA III (Still one of my favourite games to this day.) I think it cost me $400... pricey!

Then again.. I probably wont be buying any of the new systems... Sad eh?

Haha.. oh those N64 days. Precious. I still have all the systems.. in working order. Yes dear old NES as well. I believe I recieved my PS3 ... about five months later in the hype or more. I just remember it wasn't THAT expensive but still on the steep side.

PS3 or any Playstation system has never given me trouble. So I think I rely on it more than Microsoft.. 1st Xbox ended up frying on me. 2nd Xbox my dog pissed on... 3rd Xbox .. its still alive. However, all my 'big' controllers are broken now.. its a shame they don't produce those anymore. Although they were kinda too big for my hands. :/

One thing I like about the new xboxs however is that you can have panels for them. The flame one looks pretty nice.. I still think they should have went along with having the xbox 360 the same colors as the orgininal xbox. Black and Green.. not this white/gray color. Too much like Nintendo or something.

Yeah, I gotta admit, the whole console skin thing IS pretty clever -- shame Nintendo beat them to it with skins for the Gameboy Micro. (Though console skinning is hardly new, it's the first time the companies themselves are directly involved.)

I've had problems with Sony and Microsoft alike, and even Nintendo on rare occasions. No company's console is without its flaws. Shit happens, you know?

But to be entirely on topic, I'd pick the XBox 360 over the XBox.

Why? Personally, I don't think there are enough stellar games to warrant buying an XBox, so knowing that the "great" XBox titles will be compatible with the slighty-backward-compatible 360 makes me somewhat happy. No, I've never owned an XBox, but I've played on more than enough of them to know that it's a fairly solid system. I have absolutely no intention of buying the 360 any time within its first year of release -- that way, if I do get one, I'll have a version that's much more refined, and far less buggy.

Hopefully, its overheating issues will be resolved by then as well.

Oh, and this topic really seems like a poll-type topic, so I added a poll.

My biggest gripe about the 360 is the two versions they have. Not that they have two versions but the reason for it. The Xbox 360 uses an ATI graphics card and the old XBOX uses an Nvidia card. The two are not compatible. So the 360 has to have an emulator built in and use hard drive space for every od XBOX game you want to play on it. On top of that it is only backwards compatible with the most popular titles, Like Halo. It reminds me of how they conveniently left out the software code to use your controller to watch DVDs. This meant you would have to buy a $30 remote. Damn Microsoft and there corporate schemes to suck more money out of us hard working gamers!

EDIT: Apparently Microsoft has done it again. They release products too early before fully testing and they manufacture cheap parts. XBOX 360 Crashes

Like all consoles do right? PS2 and the origional Xbox had the same problems. The percentage of problems isn't even as bad as it is made out to be.

The Xbox 360 is a more powerful system. It gets hotter than other systems. The overheating problems aren't a developmental glitch since they have to get the system certified to be fire safe. Its the fact the system HAS to be out in the open or it WILL over heat. Just like a computer overheats and crashes to avoid damage (mine did it a few months back when my powersupply died) the 260 does the same thing. Even the blocky power supply needs to stay cool.

Alot of the disk scratching problems are because dumbasses keep flipping the system from horizontal to vertical while the system is on. Even when off if done too much EXPECT SCRATCHING.

I can't believe people are actually suprised that this is happening. It only makes me crave the arrival of the PS3 since it'll be putting out more than the 360.

This next wave of consoles are built like high end PCs. Do you flip your high end PC around while its on or stuff it in a tight place with no ventialtion and expect it to work? No.

And as for X-Box emulating games eventually it will have most if not all games available for emulation. Microsoft has tried a different approach to emulation given the cards and I think they've done a nice Job attempting to move over the XBox library to the 360.

So you're saying the XBox 360 will go the way of the Dreamcast?

You're certainly not the first person to think that.

I've never had a PC over heat. Have you ever noticed how much empty space is in a PC. The next gen systems are trying to pack too much heat producing stuff into a small space. What's sad is the powersupply for the 360 is like a powersupply for a Laptop. It is a big black box attached to the power cord. Even with the power supply seperate the damn things are still over heating. I would have rather had a large box like the original Xbox than this smaller 360 that I can only play a couple hours at a time because it has to cool down. Damnit don't they understand. Videogames are like crack for some people. Especially RPGs where you want to get farther and farther before taking a break. I hope Bill Gates dies of Gohnorrhea. Because he doesn't understand true gaming. Microsoft is all about marketing schemes.
