Haha, jesus people are so stupid.
Yeah, I hate Microsoft and I hate the XBOX 360.
But it won't flop. It won't go the way of the Dreamcast, and it's obviously a better system than the XBOX.
Why is backwards compatability so important? Do hardcore gamers still play the SNES? Do they care that it can't play NES games? **** no.
The XBOX360 is ONLY going to be bought up by hardcore XBOX fans. Microsoft knows this. I can almost gaurantee that 80+ percent of people who want an XBOX360 already own an XBOX.
And shit, with the titles promised for the XBOX360, there's no ****ing way in hell it's going to flop. In time Microsoft will fix the glitches with future revisions, everyone already knows this. Hell, they probably already knew of the problems and are taking the heat and taking the money losses in order to be able to find and fix the problems quicker.
Think of the first release as a major beta test. Send out a couple million, you're sure to find all the problems a lot faster that way, therefore dev time is sliced down, Microsoft loses a bit of money, they piss people off, but they know people are still going to buy the system in the end.
****, there's two titles by Mistwalker promised for the XBOX 360, and Kameo, one of the launch titles, just looks DAMN good. That and with Halo 3 will be enough to get people to buy the system, because it's enough to get me to want one, eventually. Especially the two Mistwalker games.
Edit: How is the different video cards what determines wether or not the games work? ATI and nVidia both support OpenGL and Direct3D rendering modes, which is what all games are programmed in. That's like saying that a PC game won't work on an ATI system but will on an nVidia system.
