Well, before it becomes an argument about whether anyone's experienced or not, why don't I, as the RPB mod and go-to guy here at TFF, step in and say a few things in Dark's defense?

First of all, a length of time at a forum doesn't mean anything when it comes to judging experience. Back when we used to have RPB clans, I was recruited into one after only four weeks of being on the forum, simply because I was out-writing some of the more "established" writers.

But see, that's not REALLY what RPB is all about, unless it's a tournament. Then it's about being a better writer and having better ideas, but... yeah.

Roleplay Battling is simply supposed to be fun. Nothing more. Sure, there are rules, but without those rules, it wouldn't be fun. That statement does, at first, seem a bit off -- doesn't it? Well how would you like it if you had a character who was a badass weaponless monk, and he suddenly had to fight an entire army of undead soldiers who can all cast Ultima and regenerate themselves simply because your opponent has no respect for you as a writer?

THAT'S why the rules are in place. So, may I make a suggestion?

Everyone needs to read the RPB rules prior to joining this club. Period.

Dark, I understand that you're new, and so you may not have known the rules. It's one thing to partially control another character's dialogue or actions in an RP because those work on a different premise. In RPB, however, it's a one-on-one fight. Controlling the other character is completely out of line, and disrespectful to your opponent. I'm not saying this because I'm mad or anything stupid like that, but I'm saying it for your own knowledge. There's a HUGE section in my rules regarding godmodding, and if you have any questions about any of it, you're more than welcome to ask me.

Indeed, RPB is something fun, and challenging. After every reply you see how your opponent responds, if he were to command your character as well now and then, you have no more surprises. And surprises is what make RPBing so much fun. Of course if you mess with the rules, you could get a bit of a hassle. But once you got the hang of the rules, you won't make the same mistakes again.

The essence of RPBing is spontaneity, without that, there is no fun, no creativity and no originality whatsoever. It's like us humans, we all have personality, and we don't show that if we're not being spontanious once in a while. That is what makes us unique, ya know. That's why you should try write as unique as you are, then you'll get REAL good battles. But by the rules of course

I would like to join and no you don't know me. I already know your not going to prove my membership because in all my RPBs I wasn't showing any true potential so, I challenge you to a RPB to show my actual potential so, I may join the Pheonix Knights. If you accept my challenge then, allow me to make a new character to battle you.

I'd love to take Red's offer, but I'm thinking I should focus more on responding to the RPB with Atma-Noah, as well as judging the current round of the TOA, considering it ended a week ago and such. Heh. Whoops? I keep getting sidetracked.

The character Argentos will be complete before I go to sleep tonight.

Hahaha, busy, busy guy. I can't wait to see this Argentos dude by the way, he seems special, since you've taken so long to create him. (Or maybe you were just busy

) See how much time you have on your hands, don't overcrowd yourself though.

Haha, actually, I haven't even started to create him. I have a name. I also have a few ideas of things I want to try out in text before I solidify the character and post him up. You know, various things with weaponry and such. I figure he'll be a Knight, since you said you'd prefer knight-type characters, so it'll be my first time toying around with that class. I need to test some things to get into the mindset.

I'm also thinking of using Argentos in the new RP I'll be creating elsewhere.

Well, I started about half an hour ago, and here's what I came up with: clicky!

Inferno Mage, I noticed something with your character... you know how you summon Phoenix? Yeah, that blatantly breaks the no summoning rule. Even if you say only once per battle -- it can't be done. So don't expect to ever use it in an RPB. RP, certainly, and it's fine for the sake of the character. Same with a couple of the other rule-bending properties of Fenii.

I'll go ahead and edit my link into your first post.

Through the soot and ashes of a thousand battles, the grimy soldier had arrived to answer the call to join the ranks of the legendary Phoenix Knights. He was tired and desperately needed a shave. And moreover, he needed some alcohol to quench his thirst and numb his body from the endless pain it felt. This soldier was stuck in a neverending myriad of emotions and knew not how to supress nor controll them. One thing he was able to do...concentrate and solidify the constant pain into an utterly blissful attack that would have put even the greatest strategists into an awe inspiring trance....

The being straightened his body into an erect stance and proclaimed: "I have come to fulfill your request, my Dutch brother. You have my sword (cheesy LOTR quote).

I'll get my character's info up soon but I've already got some good ideas for him. Just as Loco, I have never used a knight class before (I usually prefer the Samurai class but they show great similarities nevertheless so it shouldn't be that bad) and am interested to see how it differs from my norm. Unless of course a Samurai character is alright? I can do either, just tell me which one you'd rather have.

A samurai is a Japanese Knight, so it's okay to create a Samurai class character.

And Cesar...I'll cut Phoenix okay...I wasn't really feeling it anyway. It was actually just for the show. But now since I've been challenged, he seems a bit invincible...:S So you're right on that part, but what else of him was rulebending, according to you?

Any and all of your curative white magic. I understand that you obviously couldn't use Life spells on yourself, but by the rules of the forum, you can't use them on anyone else, either. If they're only there for show, that's fine, but if they're there for actual use, that's another story.

Fury Blade also caught me a bit off-guard. If the skill drives both players Berserk, it can't be used -- so, perhaps that can be modified so that it can drive both Berserk, rather than making it an absolute fact. You have to remember that you can't force your opponent (or even teammates, for that matter) to do anything. That's the cardinal rule of RPB.

Aside from that, I think everything else looks great.
