I hoped that the trend of turning video games into movie ideas would fade soon. It's bad enough we have that films Final Fantasy and Resident Evil running around.

AWESOME! That trailer was just amazing. It looks like they are keeping it mostly within the story of the first game...only with a woman instead of a man. The trailer gave me flashbacks from when i first played silent hill so many years ago!

Yeaaa! I saw this in another post.
The movie looks like SH1!
It's really exciting!
Does anyone know when it comes out?
I'm kinda scared to watch it. I need someone to
hold during the scary parts. Honestly tho.

I dunno if I'm gonna be too afraid to see it. I own the first and second games, but I can never get past the first task on the second game, and I watched my mom and her at-the-time boyfriend play it all the way through...almost gave me nightmares. I couldn't have anything standing 3 feet tall in my room out of my mind making it into those short baby zombie dudes.

Though...I dunno. I might give it a try. This series is the ONLY thing that scares me shitless. I'm not afraid of ANYTHING else, not even the Resident Evil series.....but SH just....I dunno.

EDIT: Actually, it looks to me they incorperated both games into one. Changed the guy from the first one into the woman so the guy can go there looking for his wife like in the second. The good shots of some of the zombies in there looked like the ones you first encounter in the second, where if you hit them once they jiggle and skitter away using only their legs....then come back. though the beginning starts almost EXACTLY like the first. I still dunno if I can handle the zombies though.

Well from what you told me SB about it, it sounds like it'll be awesome. I liked the RE games, well some of them, but not the movies. I think if they truly do make it a freaky, dark, and sinister movie then it should be awesome, and one of the first good game to movies out there. I'll probably end up going to see it in theaters, well I may wait for some reviews first but it sounds like it's gonna be worth seeing.

Holy f'n shit. I'm so there.

I only have played SH2, which I have heard is the worst of the series, but there are times in that game when I have all my lights off and the sound up and I almost have a heart attack. And then another.

The thing that makes it scarier to me is the excellent use of sound in that game. If the movie itself can incorporate half of that sound, and make it work, than they better be handing out diapers at the entrance to that film.

It's a fun game indeed, BUT I seriously hope they don't hollywood half-ass it into this current of "Horror" movies recently, (Slightly Doom, RE2), I think the whole "Slasher" film is just crap. Movies without a story or a half-assed story = bad, even though I did enjoy the first RE cause they at least established enough for those who love the game, like myself. Though I am getting rather tired of how they are making all these game>movie, movies and such because the whole horror genre truly bores the hell out of me. Most of them are predictable and rather stupid, hell me and my friend end up laughing at these scenes instead of jumping out of our seat.

I just checked out the credits on IMBD also and the director looks good, Brotherhood of the Wolf was an awesome movie, (which he directed.) And the actors seem decent...hopefully the writers will actually work on the story rather than throwing in the natural idiotic hollywood elements.

Haha.

EXACTLY! I'm with Chez on this. SH is the freakiest series out there. If they fail at this movie... it's a word to all the horror genre game creators planning a movie... stop, think about it, get out of the DAMN HOLLYWOODISM MOVEMENT!!! That is what makes movies horrible. Hollywood needs to mature a bit and get over their prissy little selves and give the people what they want.

I really look forward to this movie. The screenshots/preview images given and on the web look good. I just hope the movie does justice for the game. Great Series.
