Yes..

I dunno, I was obsessed with the first GTA when it came out for PC.. I have it on Play Station too... The british version was awesome too, 'cept for the fact they never changed the map. I wasn't a big fan of GTA 2 at all. It sucked.

GTA III is easily my favourite. It was revolutionary for it's time. The story line is great and so is .. pretty much everything else about that game.

Vice City was alright.. I wasn't a big fan.

San Andreas is now the king though. There is SO much you can do in that game. You can even go into bars and play pool! There are so many mini-games and side-missions.. it would be impossible to get 100% completeness in that game. I just got to the 3rd city... some of those missions are intense! I don't use cheats though.. that'd ruin all the fun!

The radio stations are probably one of my favourite aspects of the games. A game that has radio stations! Brilliant! Oh yeah, and the bikes are a definite improvement. Not to mention all the weapons, the clothes you can buy, hair cuts, food stores, the gym, Casinos... Girlfriends That game has EVERYTHING.

It'll be hard topping San Andreas, that's for sure.

I've played GTA, GTA II, GTA III and Vice City. That's right - I haven't played San Andreas yet.

Now, GTA was an incredibly fun game to play. I must've been 10 when I first encountered it but being 10 years old I wasn't very good so I left it for a while and only played it properly when I was a little older.

GTA II just brushed up on certain aspects but there were some inconsistencies in the game like easily gaining favour with one gang right after killing lots of their members, which just made me feel the series didn't progress as much as it could've. It was a great game all the same.

GTA III made the inevitable graphical transformation, while maintaining the "essence" of the previous games. What I didn't like was the fact that the main character seemed to be some petty criminal who manages to rise up in the underworld through pure luck. He doesn't say a thing and readily takes orders. Tommy Vercetti was so much better...

Vice City felt too aimless. Acquiring assets was a good feature but it didn't have the gang war theme which I enjoyed in GTA III. Otherwise, Vice City progressed the series much like GTA II did. Sure, Vice City was extremely fun and an excellent game in it's own right but I felt Rockstar could've done more. Then again, I presume they have with San Andreas.

Hmm...I remember back in the day...the first GTA, was hilarious. I spent weeks of my life on that one. I hated II, it looked like crap and I'm a graphics perv. The cars looked like...bananas...that were not cool.

III. Now that's where the fun started! Ha, ha. I completely pwned that game. Loads 'o fun. My favorite part was stealing FBI cars...shiny...I knew the map by streetname...yes, I have no life.
Didn't play Vice City...

San Andreas. Surprisingly, it never stuck with me. New weapons, beings, surroundings, vehicles, PLANES MAN! PLANES!!! EEYAAAHHH!!! But...I still never finished it. Boring missions.
I think I kinda beat the genre to death with III though. Or maybe it's just because I think CJ's a wanker.

Flying airplanes and jetpacks are fun. The rest is just a bad excuse for killing people and looking at 'hot' animeted chicks.
Final Fantasy X-2 does it better on the last excuse. *Laughs*

I personally started with the third title of the series and ****ing loved it. It brought a morbity to the gaming industry that you just had to love (who doesn't like screwing a hooker and than kicking her trash and getting your cash back. Sex=Free).

Vice City was pure nostalgia despite me having only lived the later part of the 80's (anyways, most of the trends survived into the earlier part of the 90's). The setting was even better than three's and it brought a whole new set of features but never neglected the aspects that made the third successful, in fact, it accented them and even partially improved them.

San Andreas must and shall be titled as the best game of the series and defitely falls under my top ten of best games ever. As SB mentioned, this game has an insane amount of things to do that it almost makes it impossible to comprehend everything. This game brings so many features that it almost makes it hard to classify it in a single genre:

It could be titled as a Shooter for obvious reasons, the most apparent being the ability to rampage throughout the streets and kill everything in sight.

It could also be seen as an Adventure Game for it's ability to let the player go around and discover the environement and interact with it accordingly.

Another possible genre is as a Racing Game. The game gives you more than enough chances to race your acquired cars against computer opponents and even lets you do a driving school to advance your skills and talents at driving. It also brought mjy personal favorite aspect in the whole game, the ability to performance tune your car (although the effectsa are mostly visual despite the NOS injection you can buy but still a very awsome feature.)

Flight Simulator also comes to mind when playing this game. Alone the plethora of planes and helicopters that are available make this game quite interesting. Oh and you can fly around in combat planes and helicoptors and even duel other military planes just like a Combat Simulator.

What the hell does "The Sims" fall under anyways? Well whatever it is, aspects of this become apparent in this game as well. You are able to date different girls, eat and gain weight accordingly, build up your muscle and condition in the gym, get tattoos and haircuts, and a bunch of other shit that I'm unable to remember right now.

Other genres could probably applied as well but I think I have made my point quite clear. This game offers so much that it just has to be loved and as Strong Bad already said, it will be a bitch to try and top it (maybe they can make the car modification a little more advanced and allow more options, although I could just play NFS:Underground for that)

Don't forget about being a Taxi Driver, Vigilante, Ambulence, Firetruck driver... Yeah so many mini games.

It's funny how it actually had the concept of Crazy Taxi built into it.. Wow. Such a huge game.

It also had all those Driving School missions...

I just got Liberty City Stories and I'm quite impressed so far... I've never heard the f bomb dropped so many times in one game... good times right there that's for sure.

GTA is a great series, San Andreas has always been my fav, until another upgraded GTA comes out, lol. I have also finished all of them. After a while though, they get boring once you have done everything. Even getting chased by the cops after a while gets boring cause you know what they do and crap... but once having a break from playing it, then going back and playing it, your not bored until a few hours later... but i guess this is what happens to every game that gets finished. Well to me anyways

I was never into GTA before the PS2 versions it looked kinda stupid to me (I just watched my brother playing it a few times) but then I brought GTA 3 and I was stunned how much depth the game had and how free you could be and after that I was hooked it was a game you did'nt even have to play right to enjoy (I honestly just used to get a car, pick my favourtite radio station and then find a garage, drive in and just sit here and listen to the music

GTA vice city remains my favourite I loved the radio stations, the settings and the storyline (the fact the main character now had a voice too) a great game

San andreas I liked but I just did'nt really like the whole living in the ghetto kind of game I felt the stroyline was weak abit predictable

GTA is an amazing series it has started trends every time it realises a new game someone eles tries to copy it

I love Grand Theft Auto, it's so much fun. My favourite has to be San Andreas. It has Axl Rose in it! It has a Guns n' Roses song in it too!

Besides that, it lets you do different things that the other GTA games didn't do. It's funny seeing tractors driving slowly up the highway and end up being smashed into by huge trucks, same with bikes lol!
