What are your thoughts on racism?

I just recently visited a Holocaust museum and what I saw was appalling and disgusting. The way Nazis treated the Jews, just because of a religion (the Nazis considered the Jews as a race) was truly terrible. Millions of people, tortured and dead. You help these people; you're dead. Simple... I saw pictures and the pictures are even worse. The people were skiny, naked, and their bodies were deformed. Gas chambers... Why would the Nazis (and they called themselves Aryians, hah) do this? Because they were different? Because they weren't part of their Final Solution? Oh, we have to make Germany pure, do we?

Also, there is the Klu Klux Klan... Disgusting. Oh no, blacks may have rights, let's bother and beat them, okay boys? A group of white idiots, the lot of them. Who cares, black, white, red, purple, rainbow...it doesn't matter.

And racism against Arabs/Muslims... Oh, we have a right to do this, America says. They bombed us, America says. Shut up! Terrorists did it, you morons! Americans need to find the cause of the Twin Tower bombings and since Osama Bin Laden and some Arab terrorists did it, America blames it completely on the Arabs, just to persecute someone!

Plus, after Pearl Harbor...America decides to treat Japanese-Americans like slaves and sends them to special isolated "camps". Did you think that these Japanese-Americans were going to kill us? No, we just wanted to blame someone.

And the sexists and all the other kinds of racism... Man, I could go on forever!

Answer a question for me: Is this thread about racism? Or is this thread a rant about caucasian racists? You started off talking about the holocaust and then you went off on a tangent about American racism. That seems pretty selective to me, almost discriminative. Amazingly, all those groups of people you mentioned were white. Gee, that seems kind of racist to me. Ironic isn't it? Yeah, lots of white people are racist, among them, many Americans and Germans, however, you'll find just as many racists in other parts of the world. Every culture has racism, EVERY culture.

Hey, hey, hey! This is a thread to discuss racism, but...

I know that all the racists that I talked about are white, but there are black racists, there are Jew racists, etc.

I just stated the racist acts that most people were most common with.

I'm glad im not the only one who thinks this is wrong..I hate rasicism! Does it really matter what colour your skin is or where you where born? I mean it's stupid, this is why i hate bush..and i hate him alot. What is the point in bombing a country when your not even sure it was them?!? It's mindless killing that makes this world how it is, and i dont like it. I recently read a book called Animal Farm and it sounds all happy and stuff but its basically about the russian revoloution but as animals. And there this animal who wants equality and stuff and it all goes well but then he dies and the animals are set free from this rebellion thing. But it is true no matter how badly you try to make things equal there is always someone who will rise above you. And i think i better stop because im droaning. and half of it doesnt make sence i dont think

I think racist people suck. I'm almost 17 and i've noticed people around my age are completly cool with people, but i have noticed that alot of older people tend to be racist bastards. It's sad to see old people who are so incompetant, and refuse to understand that everyone is equal. I don't get how anyone could justify to themselves that one group is superior to another. In the end I don't get why people can be so cruel to there own kind, and I hope that one day racism will cease to be.

I'm against racism all the way, however, I can't say I haven't laughed at some racist jokes or stereotypes. I'm talking about black people though, in regards to the whole Nazi<Jew thing, I thought that was horrible. I did an english assignment on the Holocaust, and I saw pictures of the jew's all dead in a pile, it was so gross >">

Yeah, I don't think racism will ever truly cease to be though. If it were possible though, imagine how boring stand up would be ¬¬

I seem to have a rather bizarre opinion on this subject. I could say "Racism is bad because... blah blah blah" but i won't. As my Grandmother is a racist (and she freely admits it) i've gained some of her opinions over the time i've visited her. The one thing i realise now that i didn't before is that racism works both ways. People are always going on about how the KKK or whoever are always being racist towards blacks, but what about the people who are always being racist to caucasion people? I've never seen any of them being locked up for racist crimes, so in a way, that is a kind of subtle racism in itself.

That's my opinion anyway.

No, that really cracks me up.
I won't say I'm fond of racists or that their ways don't rub me the wrong way, but do we ever wonder WHY they're racists?

First of all, it's human nature to have a scapegoat, an Omega to release stress onto, in this case people who are different.
Then there's family and heritage. Dad's a racist, implies his ways upon his son, so son is a racist too. A follow the leader kind of thing.
Most people have racists ways out of imitation and insecurity, I've found. Or they're just plain bullies!

Ah well. I'm not saying I agree with 'em, but I hate just pointing fingers. Haha.

I despise racism....it's the most ridiculous mindset of mankind....discriminating someone or a group of people you've never met, based solely on ethnicity or culture or whatever is simply pathetic...anyone racist should burn in the cross for eternity...everyone, independently of any physical or social difference, is a HUMAN BEING like everyone else, and people need to learn to accept that, and RESPECT people for the individual they are! Although I don't see that happening that soon, since this world is filled with brainless, shallow idiots.

Homophobes are also huge idiots, and they seem to overflow message boards, sadly

No, because accepting people for who they are includes accepting racists for their views towards other people. I'm not racist, but I've had my moments where I was pissed off at an entire ethinicity.

I know that in a way, I'm wrong, but look at it like this...someone who thinks just becuase someone has, for instance, a different color, that the person is a soulless animal who deserves to die....can this discriminative person REALLY be treated as a respectabele citizen? I mean, maybe it's contradictive...mabe I'm a hypocrite, but anyone who thinks that way can't earn any sympathy from me.

Also, do you think someone who has been discirminated for his ethnicity throughout his life should respect the views of these people?

On the other hand, maybe that's not really the point I made originally, I guess...wahtever, I'm not an intellectual, all I know is I try my best to see everyone as equal, although I just cannot respect inhumane people such as racists.
