Xbox 360 already dead

I went to my local best buy today, and I was shocked to see they had an xbox 360 demo set up. I walk over to it, excited there was no body playing it. When I get there, it's shut off! I didn't know if this was a joke or something, so I asked an employee. Apparently they pump out as much heat as a little space heater, and it had fried hours after seting it up.

It must have been because of the case to keep game bandits from running off with it. Still, they're already crapping out before they're released. Anyone know when the ps3 is due to be released, because this has killed all desire for me to spend 500 bucks on a 360.

PS3 will be released sometime next spring. There still isn't a set date on it, but it's not too far away now.

That doesn't surprise me about the 360 though. I'm sure it can PARTIALLY be blamed on the case that it was in, but I also blame lack of venthilation on the system itself. I mean, come on. We all know how sleek it is. We've also seen the air vents.

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft was already working on a new 360 case.

One of the major flaws behind the 360 is the fact that, Microshaft has such a low base of user support in Japan as in comparison to say.. the US, or Europe. They do have considerable base of support, but it is completely and utterly dwarved by the might of Sony and the Playstation 3 (well, PS2 aswell but thats IMO) soon to be released.

The 360 has the first release doesnt it?

Thats probably the *only* thing goin for it, it may be out in the playing field first.

I'm still not sure what I'll buy. I'm certainly waiting for the ps3 to come out before I decide. Also, unlike all these people pre-ordering stuff, I plan on renting the console with a few games first. I'd rather spend the extra 50 bucks and be sure of a buy.

I waited untill just a year and a half ago to buy my xbox, and although I got it super cheap, I was left in the dust. With all that time for games to come out, I was just flodded with choices, and I didn't know about xbox live until a week ago!

Does anyone have any good info on the future of Final fantasy for the xbox? I want to buy microsoft, simply because sony blows, but if the ps3 is the only console for ff it's tuff.

Well, you also have to remember that stores only have the developmental model of the 360. Even so, how many changes can they really make to all those consoles prior to launch? I'm thinking they've screwed themselves on time.

As far as FF for the XBox, there's a topic about it around here somewhere. XBox might be getting a collection, but there's no solidity about it thus far, last I'd heard.

I doubt the early release is ALL the Xbox 360 has going for it. Check around, and look at how each system is faring on a developmental level and you'll see the PS3 is in waaaaaaay worse of a situation. Hell, the Dev kits from E3 melted, and right now they can't get it running for long periods becasue the coolant is insufficant. COOLANT. It pains me to think of what the PS3 is going to have to go through. My friends Grampa worked for a company involved in Blu-Ray (Honeywell, I believe) and he said once he got word of what the company was developing for, he began hearing the blue-ray drives were causing problems with melting in as little as 5 hours. Thats how hot those thigns can get. Imgaine the gaming systems that have gone the way of the burn after being played for periods like 20 hours, after they've been out for a few years.

The Xbox 360 is far from dead. The only thing going against it right now (since, beyond contrary beliefe, it is becoming a hit in Japan) is its limited supply. Thats the only thing going against it at this moment in time.

The issues of the DVD's not being big enough will be resolved with FVD's when they're released. They've already fixed their problems with weak Japanese 3rd party support.

On Sony's side, the company's been restructured to completly revolve around the PS3 and the PSP (since their other departments are lacking in sales, Sony's realized they must push a gaming market in which the might sadly lose this time around). Their Final Dev kits are just now being released to developers whose kits burnt out this past summer. Expecting a Spring Release? Maybe in Japan. The games won't be up to par, just like the current batch of 360 games.

The Cell is being used inefficantly, since now developers have to code for 7 mini processors. If the entertainment industry turns to HD-DVD's for the next gen of Home Storage, that'll put the PS3's Blu-Ray drives useless for DVD playback. So now you have a overpriced game system that runs the risk of melting even with coolant, that is basically determing a good deal of Sony's future. Also throw that in with the Red all companies are in at launch PLUS the cash to develop the CELL processor, and thats alot of shit for Sony to handle.

I'm not trying to sound fanboyish (I own all 3 systems, equal ammount of games and play time on each) but Sony is taking FAR MORE risks than either Nintendo or Microsoft. Nintendo has MORE support this time around than what it had for gamecube, and despite everyone's "lets be cool and hate an American Gaming System" X-Box is very popular.

Before you judge what system you'll buy based on a single store kit (which get treated like shit. Its funny how people always laugh at X-box for being turned off, when I see more PS2's and GC's down) think about it. Those kits go through shit EVERY day, by people who are destructive and little kids from hell. They've been out for a little over a week, which is more than enough time to put one out of comission. It would, however, be a better idea to wait until this wave is done, since every system always has flaws in its first few waves. PS2 was shit at launch. So was X-box. The only system I wasn't too sure of was Gamecube, since I've never seen one that had a problem after being used for awhile, and I got mine the day of launch.

Playstation 3, from what I researched and been told, is to be released the same day as Halo 3 which is suppose to be sometime in June, I believe.

Aside from that, I'm waiting out on the Xbox 360; I just got my Xbox last Christmas, so it hasn't even made a year yet. I wanted to sell it, but my parents will get rather angry since, ya know, they paid for it. Lol.

Andd I don't feel like spending $2189416516546575945.01 for an Xbox. I'll wait til I become a prostitute and get rich (haha, yeah right).

So basically what I'm saying is I'm getting the Playstation 3. I've had the PS2 since they day it came out. I mean, it's an old bitch. Lol.

PS3 won't be released the same day as Halo 3, Microsoft has since retracted that statment.

PS3 is shooting for a Japan Release in Spring. I'm assuming it'll come mid summer in America. Halo 3 will be out when its ready, which is pleasing to hear.

I'm counting on the PS3 being released in the near 2008. And that's being hopeful.
Not like I could buy it right away. I'd have to wait a few years. I think I'll get one when I'm 25.
