what is the WORST ff ever?

i haven't seen this as a topic yet, but sorry if it was already done... what do you think? out of the ones i've played i'd say X is my least favorite for many reasons. first, i'm not attached to any of the characters (i'm currently playing it). i don't like the story line, i don't like the setting, and i don't like the voice overs (so dang annoying i just want to read things for myself). there are things good about it but it doesn't compare to VI, IV, and IX. now the ff that i think is the worst even though i've never played it is X-2. saw the intro and i almost puked. seems like they wanted to draw in female buyers (girl power, wee!) but it really turned me off. but maybe i'm wrong....

I loved Final Fantasy X. That music and being able to hear the pain in the voices was so much more emotional.

Anyway, I hated Final Fantasy V and II. They just seemed so boring. I loved VIII too, so maybe I am just some weird guy who likes the Final Fantasies no one else does.

i agree with you i loved X and VIII but i wasent very fond of VII. My all time favorite's are XI, FFT, then VI in that order =P

I too love X due to many reasons. It's one of my top 3 besides VI and VII.

I never really liked the following:
V - story sucked, too easy (but cool job system)
VIII - don't know why exactly but I don't like it (but Quistis and Griever featuring)
X-2 - lame sequel, girls jumpy, too few PCs, music shit, story sucks, brother annoys - boring.

Thus, the worst of all in my book is X-2.

The worst FF ever, without competition, is without a doubt.

FFX-2

There are several reasons for this, but we must first consider this, SquareEnix are a company, who have now gained acclaim for making poor games. Ultimate Saga is a prime example of this. So given that the newly formed company is indeed terrible they are given some leaniency towards the flogging they shall inevitably recieve.

That said....

-3 Characters, all of which being characters I hated from FFX, Paine was the new one, but I heard the line "Kick its ass" and that sealed the deal for me.

-All of these characters are girls. I'm sorry, RPGs need male characters.

-These girls are dressed scandily, so not only do I feel ashamed of my self for playing the game, but I seem like a freak when I bought the game.

-These girls have horribly annoying voices. Rikku uses words like Dissasteriffic.

-The Sphere grid has been removed and replaced with something far inferior. The Garment grid.

-Dress spheres, ugh. I feel sick.

-Aeons have been removed, you may argue there is no need but, It isn't a Final Fantasy without summons.

-There is no equipment menu. This also means there is little in the way of equipment, thus reducing the number of items in the game.

-Brother. What in gods name were they thinking when they put him in the game. Thats low Square Enix, real low.

-That kid with the gas mask.

-The rival spherehunters, who act like Team Rocket.

-The Spherehunting. and Reports of an awesome sphere.

-Lack of blitzball, and replacement with a poor substitute.

-There are very few locations.

-There is no apparent graphical improvement.

-The dialogue is poor, and cheesy.

-Having that huge MISSION COMPLETE crap come up on the screen.

-The intro, with the whole, zoom-in-on-face-and-change-colour-then-display-name thing.

-The Songstress, mascot dress spheres.

-Rikku.

-Joining a "faction"

-A "jump" function.

-Everysingle outfit. Period.

-Rikku

-Very few new monsters.

-The status effect "pointless"

-Rikku

These are just a few reasons not to buy FFX-2.

I haven't actually played every Final Fantasy to date, as of yet. The ones I've played through are 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9, and out of those, I realized the other day, I would be least inclined to play 8 again. Some time last year, when I was deciding which game I wanted to play, I tried to start it again, but realized I didn't want to have to go through all the stuff at the beginning ever again. Mostly, probably, because it inolved SEED and the Garden. I never really liked those aspects of the game. Something about being given orders as to what to do, and being on a pay roll that was docked if you didn't do what they wanted you to right away (I like to explore.) I just didn't like having superiors.

Also, the characters were all in their teens. Squall has saved the world by the age of 17. That's RIDICULOUS!! It's just something about it that gives the impression, as many animes do, that when you're in your teens is when you're in your prime, and many of the characters who are in their 30's or so are just old fogies. 6 had a much more diverse age group, and pretty much a much more diverse cast. Actually, all of the other games had a much more diverse cast than this one (except for 1 and 3, obviously...)

I didn't really buy into the Rinoa/Squall relationship, if I remember correctly, but I don't really mind that much (mostly because I don't remember what I objected to in it, now.) I also didn't understand the junctioning/drawing system the first time through, but that's probably my problem.

EDIT: I actually own Origins, so I suppose I could play II, but I'm just not patient enough to deal with the beginning of that game...

EDIT EDIT: Oh yes, the post below reminded me that I had played Tactics and Tactics Advanced. Not that that changes anything (I liked both games pretty well.)

I may sound like an old school type of person by my favorite FF's are I, II, and IX. Especially Dawn of Souls... I just have a thing for the older games.

Anyways my least favorite of all the FFS made are

FF X-2 : SUCKS, i mean all you get to play as is three chicks, Auron is gone, tidus is dead, and your chasing after some sorceror and have the ability to chage dresses in battle (wow...)

FF VIII: I have beaten the game and I have to say it wasn't that impressive. It was way to easy and the whole SeeD thing (has a very bad connotation) and Garden was just lame... wasn't impressed with that one

I've had FFX-2 since it came out... My friend gave it to me cause it was originally his present from another friend, but his PS2 broke, so he gave it to me.

ANyway, I've had it for a loooong time.... but it interests me nil. Not at all. I'm at 40% and I have no desire to continue. I've been there since a year ago I think...

Now, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance sucks a lot too. I've had it for awhile, and it just plain sucks. Didn't finish it either, because it just sucked so bad.

I actually enjoyed X-2, dont know why, but i did. I also enjoyed tactics.


Tactics advanced sucked. that whole 'this weapon is not allowed' crap kept angering me.


though my least favorit was FFVIII, i hated that damn junction system, and the draw thing, the only way to get magic is to draw it...no wonder i never had any god damn magic, and it's just not an rpg without magic. plus it had unimpressive characters. Squalls constant 'whatever' was annoying. 8 is a FF i never finished and never will finish.

FFX-2 is enjoyable. As a girl, even I find it way too girl-power-ie, and it is sometimes sickening within its girlish lines. There's so many things in which I could see why some folks could hate it, but to me, it's still fun.

FF8 characters are all too young. All 17's or 18's group is too forced. It's okay, but the sad part is that they don't look 17. Squall? 17? *chuckles* ^.^ But then again, a lot of games and anime do that. lol ^_^ Oh well, it's all good; we can just imagine them older. Just two days ago, my friend show me the first episode of Bleach. The main character said in Japanese, "Juu go sai," (15 years old), and he looked more like 27-ish. O.o

Oh, that was somewhat off topic. My worst FF game may be....hmm.. I dunno, I'm not very picky; they're all good in its own ways (except FF7, it's legendary every way). I can't pick.... ~_~;;;; Gawd! And all this time writing, I couldn't think of my worst!?

My top three favorites wre VIII, X and X-2, VII is close behind (I have not played XI yet, but when I do, I know it wil be up there 2.

Anyways, I agree with Dr. Unne on only a couple facts, there are no summons, that is one of the factors which really makes FF games, and the other fact is the few locations on the map, not very fun.

Otherwise, I loved the game. Dude! you dont need a guy in a RPG game to make it fun! thats discrimination man! I thought it was awesome that they finally made a FF game in which I could play with just females, although Dr Unne, I do like the addition of males in the game too, dont get me wrong, but having all females was a nice change, Auron was awesome in FFX! I loved the outfits in the game and hte very creative dress spheres, I thought they were awesome and imaginative designs. As by far, I dont really have one I hate, the one I would say is my least fave now is currently VII, but I have not tried them all!

I havent played all the FF's. But I like 8 and 9 best. I havent played 10 or 10-2 or any of that... I've played a lot of the older FF's, and I didnt like them. I thought ff7 was okay, but I found it depressing. 8 was fun, the chacracters and story-lines were cool. 9 was excellent, not at all depressing when you think about it. I just hated the other ones that I've played.
Go 8 and 9 though ^_^;;.

VIII. It's as if the writers just got bored halfway and said, "F*ck it, they can all be from the same orphanage 'n' shit. *tokes the peace pipe* And they forgot 'n' shit 'cause G.F.'s can do that 'cause they live in your head, or something."
I don't know about you but I'd be slightly worried if a large chunk of my memory just, vanished.

But its not a bad game, just a bad FF. Its still better than a lot of RPGs.
That and some of the game boy ones, they were pretty crappy.

I'm going to say VII was the worst because it was the first of the huge decline Square took when it hit the playstation. There was nothing wrong with the Snes FFs but once Square was like, "Lets go with better graphics!" they went downhill.

You can argue all you want but it isn't going to change my opinion, maybe I'm just a old school gamer.
