what is the WORST ff ever?

Surely when the Playstation and all the rest of that generation of gaming came to be, Square's most logical step was to move forwards onto the new and better platforms. The SNES has become obsolete and FF would've gone with it if the step had not been taken.
Just you think about that.

The FF that had the least effect on me was probably FF9. Why? I'm not quite sure. All the right elements seem to be there - quirky (but cool) characters, strong enough storyline (at least, it was at first), and a bad guy you love to hate (Kuja).

I'm not saying that FF9 is a bad game, it's actually pretty good. But not compared to the other FF games that i've played (1-9, Tactics, Tactics Advance, and MQ). The characters, although cool enough, just weren't as cool as most of the other casts (this was also a problem with FF8). The story started out very well, like I said, but by the time I was halfway through the third disc, I was bored out of my mind. And the bad guy? Hell, he wasn't even the final boss! Come on! Where did Necron even come from? By that point, I was just playing through it to get it over with and be able to say that i've beaten FF9. I didn't care what happened to any of the characters by then. (Except Vivi, because that little black mage is a badass.)

So, yeah, FF9 is my least favorite. It's still a good game, but it pales in comparision to the other FFs (yes, even FF8 and FFT:A).

While there is yet to be an FF that I truly hate, I have to say I found FF II(j) to be incredibly off balance. They way you would have to abuse your character's hit/magic points to level up HP/MP/Magic was kinda wierd, and it takes a Helluva lot of time.

[Rant] The worst FF to me is FFX2 how can that even be classed as a Final Fantasy Game, 3 girls running around looking for some spheres and singing and dancing with the occasional battle...wow im glad i spent my £30 on that >.<;the endings made no sense to the extra ending to X after the credits, depending on what ending you got ofcourse lol Square Enix messed up on it big time, yer it was enjoyable in a, i havent got anything else better to do so i will play this. but otherwise it tainted the FF name well to me it did anyway, and its the only FF game i wont be playing again [/End Rant]

lol anywayz thats just what i thought i know alot of people will like FFX2 but im more into the FF7/FF8 storylines ^^;

I gotta go with Trev here. I didn't like FFII as much as the others, though it was decent. The leveling up system was too different from FFI. It was almost like playing a completely different style of RPG, not even a Final Fantasy. And it took me 60 damn hours to get my characters to 9999 HP. 60 hours!!! It was good after a while though. Definitely my least favorite.

I did love X, VIII, VII, I, and VI (The slow start definitely turns people off, but just keep playing.

I liked IX, but it kind of turned me off. I didn't like the ability system, where you had magic stones that let you junction abilities.

I liked VII the most, but I haven't played all of them...mainly II and III(not FF6 III but FFIII) and XI(I don't like subscription fees)...I didn't like FFI very much...half of the time you just walked around looking for towns to do something in, there wasn't that much of a story to it. For me, VII had the most intriguing story line. And parts of it are now used in other games, at least similar aspects, like the whole created for by someone to serve a purpose that they never knew about...

I don't 'hate' any of the Final Fantasy games. I've found them all interesting in their own unique ways. I don't sit there and try to nitpick at what is wrong with a game, but embrace what is good about it. So what if the music isn't perfect or the characters don't look the age you think they should(btw FFVII-FFX-2, they were all very young.. not just FFVIII.. that's a Japanese culture thing.. deal with it).

As far as games I dislike playing, that'd have to be FFXI. It was fun at first, but it got boring rather quickly. I don't mind MMORPGs, but leveling in this game is freaking insane. You spend 95% of your time grinding and 5% doing quests, shopping, and other things. I won't go into it more than that, because I've covered it thoroughly in the respective forum.

FFVII pissed me off. I don't care how many praise the game, the ending sucked ass. There was all this build-up and its like popping a balloon at the end. Poof! Nothing! You saved the world and what do you get? Not a damn thing.. The ending is comparable to Diablo. Wow! You fought all these monsters and heard all this story.. then.. uh.. nothing. Oh and for all you Squall haters, why don't you replay FFVII. Cloud was a whiny-ass bitch too. Don't even get me started on how cliche the whole game is.. the story was unoriginal. ^_^

But do I hate these games? Nah. They might piss me off but hey, no game is perfect.

I am glad that someone else actually saw the game the way I did. I was incrediblly psyched when I got this game, played it for my free month, started getting bored, payed for one month, tossed it. I can't even re-sell the fing thing. Its just all training, training, training. It didn't have enough purpose for me, making it my least favourite.

Besides that, there really ins't any FF that I dislike.

I don't really hate any Final Fantasy, in my opinion they're all good. Final fantasy Online is okay but I had to train by killing rabbits in the forest, finally when I died by one, I turned it off, and never played again.

Personally it would have to be either Final Fantasy II or Final Fantasy X-2.

Final Fantasy X-2 was so cheesy and go-happy-fun-fun, It reminds me of the Powerpuff Girls too much! >.<

Final Fantasy II was well, just plain crappy...
