FFII's Richard, The Original Dragoon

Hey everyone, what do you think of FFII's Richard? I think he was first Dragoon to ever grace Final Fantasy. I think Richard was a great character to play with. When he sacraficed himself to save the other characters that was hard to watch when I first played.

I like Dragoons, their my favorite job class in the final fantasy games so I wanted this thread to be about Richard, the original dragoon. What really would have suited Richard better if he had a dragoon fight by his side in the game, that would have been really cool. The Dragoons that followed behind Richard were ok but I like the old school Dragoons better. What do you think about Richard? All opinons are welcome, but no flaming

Yeah, I like him and prefered him to Leon.
It does seem that all the good characters in FII got killed. It was ok though on the GBA version you got to as them all again in a really cheap pointless rip-off game. Yey!!
A dragon for him to summon would be cool but the FFs at that point had a pretty basic battle system with no summons or special attacks.

Yeah I still wonder why Leon had to be the one to live til the end? I wish Richard could been the one to fight the Emperor at the end. XD I played the original FFII for NES and the Emperor was tough as hell, each time he hit he abosrbed more hp then my characters had XD.

Anyway back on topic... I'm glad SE remade FFII: Dawn of Souls because that gave me the chance to play Richard again even after the game ended. If SE could do that for FFII what if they did that for all other early final fantasy games like FFV and brought Guluf back? Richard deserved more in-game time then leon did.

Ricard was awesome. i was sad when he died. but i was happy to see him in Soul of Rebirth(after you beat the game you unlock SoR) His sons name was Kain and he said he was gonna become a Dragoon. In FF4 Kain became a dragoon because he said it made him feel closer to his dad. Could they possibly be related?

You might be right Kain. That could be related, I need to get back in the flow of FFIV

Has anyone ever wondered whether or not that the FFII/FFIV Kain thing is just a reference to...well...FFII? Heh. Seems likely to me, since all the FFs have different worlds. As for them both having Mysidia, what about the 'Ultima Weapon' weapons? Do other games have the same weapon? Well?

Most games do have an Ultimate weapon. Usually titled either Ultima Weapon or Excalibur or somthing along those line. I think it is very possible that the FFII and FFIV worlds are one in the same.

Your right Kain, I just read a FFII walkthrough and I read the Soul of Rebirth section. It said that Richard's son that you see in the Deist Castle in FFII is Kain! So kain did have a connection to Richard, I think Kain's mom died after the events of FFII so that's why kain was ophaned and adopted by the king of Baron in FFIV, all of it ties together so well. When I first played FFII I throught it was just some child, but it was actually kain when he was alittle kid! XD. And also when I saw the name Mysidia in FFII, it ringed a bell that Mysidia was also in FFIV as well lol. Damn was I surprized.

Also, both Kains have the same hair color. In FFIV it is staed that Kains father died in battle. Ricard died in battle with Emperor Palmecia. And naturally since the war was over, new Kingdoms would have formed, such as Baron, Fabul, Eblan, and Damicyan. Both games also have an Excalibur. Also Kain's, and Ricards armor are incredibly alike.

it is true that Richard and Kain are related. If Kain said his father was a dragoon and died in battle, then Richard must be the one he mentions. Too bad Kain never said what his father's name was. Maybe he will in the ds version?

that would be cool if they did then they should make 6 like they are 4 and just straight out say relm is shadows daughter and by completing all the dreams he becomes clyde that would make me very happy
