My God... We're Back... NEW SERVER TIME

Few words can explain the last 4 days of hell I have gone through. Our host company ValueWeb was purchased by another company and they promised all customers only 15 hours max. of downtime while they migrated data centers...

Well we had almost 6 days of it

It effected thousands of servers. There is actually a Digg of it here and multiple blogs and official news articles.

I called multiple service agents and tech agents to get the same answer every time. There is actually going to be a class action lawsuit against them... some servers had multiple businesses that generated thousands of dollars... 5 days of no business is a lot of money lost.

During the down time I purchased a new server through serverbeach.com to start migrating TFF and other sites to. I am not going to pay ValueWeb for anymore business, in fact they owe me money now.

The new server is great! I have most of the files up and running on it. I am going to make backups of the forums and move it over, then switch our DNS to the new server and KILL THE OLD. Hopefully this will be transparent.

The new server has PHP5 and MySQL 5, so I suspect a few loops to move vbulletin over, but i'm optimistic.

Above ALL - SORRY TO ALL OF YOU. Please let every fellow TFFers you know, that we are back online and have a new server that we migrating to, as soon as possible.

Yeah, I know what you mean Chez. I usually come home and spent 30 minutes and hour going through the forum taking care of business before moving on to something. And I always have it to come back to and refresh. It threw off my whole routine this week. I'm just glad that it is back, I've been waiting on some RPs and being gone this long worries me.

Aww...i missed this place....it's so warm and fuzzy....i actually thought that it would never come back but some members (you know who you are) kept me thinking it would.

Well...doesn't matter how long we would wait....the point is that its up and running...and i thank Fuzz for that....

Yeah I agree with Andromeda it felt like something was missing from my routine.

It still looks like it'll be a while before I post normally again, the site still seems to load very slow and sluggishly.

So its not just me with the forum running slow. I was a little worried, but I guess this is normal for right now? My only guess was that Fuzz is still working on this and so the server is slow.

It seems to recover every so often and move quicker, but I'm usually waiting like a minute or two. *shrugs* Oh well, TFF is back *hugs TFF*

Fuzz has always had the amazing ability to find server companies that bomb out on him after a while. That one actually was a good company from what many of the people who used it (many for 10+ years) have said. All good things come to an end though and Fuzz happened to be on the tail end of their wake I guess.

Oh well. At least its back up. I can stop sending hate mail to Cesar now.. *cough* </joke>

Now I just got to wait on all the other RPing folk to return so I can post my stuff up. I had like a whole week to write stuff. O.o

EDIT: Yeah its running slow as crap. That might have to do with the fact that the DNS has to point to a new address now. If it hasn't fully switched over to the new IP it will run like shit and can possibly have multitudes of other horrible hiccups, like cookie problems, etc. We've seen it in the past. Of course, it might be him uploading shit... or God forbid, the server is just naturally that damned slow. Let's hope its one of my first two and not the later... eh?

Finally TFF is back!!! I tried coming on here a couple times in the past few days, but I'm glad to see the site running up again. It does load up slow though. Its good to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing this. But the good thing is that its up and running again. Thanks Fuzz.

Yes this has been the most boring week of my entire life... so much so I even considered going to find a job... oh the humanity!

Like above it felt like I was missing something, on top of that MSN has been real quiet and the chatrooms I go to are full of the same pathetic trolls as usual. Glad its over...
