I'm informed that MTG clubs have a short lifespan on TFF.
But since I've noticed numerous players and no thread for MTG, I decided to ressurect this club, even if history shows that it won't last.

This club has one rule in addition to the underlying rules of the forum. You must play Magic: The Gathering.

Yea, Why not, I'll join.
I play from time to time, although I don't have that many cards. I use to play a whole bunch of games, and was really got at them, but most have died down over the years.

Like I've said, I don't have that many MTG cards, but I'm really good with what I've got. I've got some rare ones too.


The last time I've played even one match..., damn it's been a while..., almost a year to date.... I'm kinda rusty, right now..., but give me a few days, and I'll be back in card gaming shape.

I should try and find some local tournaments around where I live one day.


My deck, it's a Primary Green Elf and Supportive Blue Simic. So it's a quick and constant overrunning power deck.
I use to have it in a Type 2 format, for tournaments, but it's been off balance for a while now. It works, but it probably could be better if it was.

I like this game, because there is an almost infinant number of stratagies that can be created with only a few cards. The only catch is, you'll have to figure out what they are, yourself.

My primary deck is a monocolored red direct damage/land destruction deck.
It wins about 5 out of 8 times.

My secondary deck is a sliver deck. I own a Sliver Queen, and am trying to obtain a Sliver Overlord and a Sliver Legion. I once managed to perform the Heartstone/Sliver Queen/Basal Sliver infinite mana/infinite tokens combo. It was amazing. And cheap. Amazingly cheap. Now that Sliver Legion is out and has a built-in hivemind Coat of Arms, this strategy can be employed to create infinite sliver tokens with power and toughness of (Inf/Inf).

Personally, I hate Grafting/Modular decks. These are (0/0) creatures who come into play with a certain number of +1/+1 counters, depending on the card's text. They can share and move these counters around. As a result, a single turn takes like 5 minutes. But fortunately, there is a fatal weakness to this kind of deck: Spike Cannibal. When it comes into play, all +1/+1 counters in play are moved onto Spike Cannibal. This instantly kills all graft/modular creatures and makes Spike Cannibal as strong as all of them put together.

Simics are grapt type creatures, which is what my support side of my deck is. lol

That's why I grapt most of the +1/+1 counters to my elves. Then when all my Grapt creatures are in my Graveyard, I pull them all back into my deck with a Elvish Soultiller.

Or, I just yank out all of my low cost elves and other creatures with cards like Aluren and Protean Hulk. Aluren allows all players to play any creature with a cost of 3 or less for nothing, and when Protean Hulk goes to the graveyard, I search my deck for any number of cards with a total mana cost of 6 or less, and then immediately play them. Elves cost less so about 20 or so come out at once.

The best way I have to combat the Spike Cannibal, is just play Experiment Kraj after the Spike is on the field. It takes all the abilities of all creatures with +1/+1 counters on them. So all the +1/+1 counters go to it.


I used a land destruction deck once. A friend had one, and I used it during a 3-way battle. Keep wiping out everyone's lands on the field, deck and their hands, then pulled out a creature that gets, I think, +2/+2 for every Land in the Graveyard. 19 lands = +38/+38. The final stats of the creature was something like 42/42. They all gave up when I pulled out a second one. The game only lasted about 3-4 turns.


The only problem I usually get with this game is a Mana Deficiency. When all my mana gets bunched up at one part of my deck so I'm stuck with nothing but creatures. About 40% of my deck is mana, so I don't know what happens.

I'm a veteran card gamer, but I just don't have the numbers of cards in this game like everyone else. For a while, I couldn't even build a Type 2 White deck because I didn't have enough mana. lol

Webcam? Uh, I guess you just point it at you on your desk, with a deck and play the game as if you're playing against your computer screen. Just type up what your card says after words. The other person does the same.

Never tried it myself, cuz I don't got a webcam. lol

I played around with M:TG in middle and high school but I've never been really into it. A few casual games with friends during study hall and that was about it. I still have all my cards though, but I bet most of them aren't even allowed in play anymore cause they're so old lol.

Honestly I was in it more for the artwork than the gameplay. Mostly because I kinda sucked at the actual game part of it...blarg.

Clever counter to the Spike Cannibal anti-graft strategy. I had never even considered that possibility, Draken.

I am currently constructing a Cannot-Lose deck. With this deck, I intend to earn the contempt of all of my card-game-friends.

It is a White/Red deack focusing on immense toughness, life-gaining cards, and cards with cannot-lose effects.
So far, it has a Platinum Angel, 2 Stuffy Dolls, a few Aether Membranes, and a few Slagwurm Armors. As soon as I can find and obtain some more cards of this type, I'll throw in some filler cards and try it out.

One crazy deck I have is a destruction deck that goes by the name of Angelgeddon, although I'm not the originator of the deck.

I just like using fun decks other people make.

There's also Ratology, or something like that, that I use.

I also have an Anti-Token deck. =D

Bleh, I just tried my red/white Cant-Lose deck. My friend had encountered such a deck before and unfortunately for me, he was prepared. I had expected him to pull out a sliver deck to equalize the sheer unreasonable effectiveness of the decks. He instead had an anti-immortality deck ready.

He took out my Platinum Angel and Fortune Thieves by using the Provoke effect. He also had his deck loaded with protection from red/protection from white enchantments, and kept enchanting my creatures. He Mindslavered me and Used my Stuffy Dolls' kamikaze ability to kill them.
It was a terrible game for me. I actually ended up conceding because he had removed my graveyard from the game. I had planned to use a Resurrection in my hand to bring back a Stuffy Doll and then use the Shivan Meteor in my hand on my Stuffy Doll, defeating my opponent.

I like to concede if there's no chance for me to win. It saves time.

It was either that or give them some sort of equipment.

I was about to suggest Plaxmanta or Shielding Plax, before I realized that Spike Cannibal affects +1/+1 counters only. lol. They protect the creature(s) from spells and abilities.

My last resort against that thing, though, would be just steal the creature altogether.
Dream Leash: Enchantment - Aura, Enchant Permanent, You may play Dream Leash only on a tapped permanent., You control enchanted Permanent. Just forcefully tap, and take.



I have two really kick ass cards that work with just about any deck if you can play them. Djinn Illuminatus and Kusari-Gama

Djinn Illuminatus: cost 7 (2 R or B and 5 converted) Flying, "Each instant and sorcery spell you play has replicate. The replicate cost is equal to it's mana cost." As long as you got the mana, you can keep playing the same instant or sorcery as many times as you want.

Kusari-Gama: Artifact - Equipment, Equipped creature has "2 converted: this creature gets +1/+0 until the end of turn." ALSO when equipped creature deals damage to a blocking creature, Kusari-Gama deals that much damage to each other creature defending player controls. That card just speaks for itself.



Have any of you heard of an Artifact card called, Fire Streakier? My one friend has it, and it just kills me every time he pulls it out. It’s an equipment card that gives a creature +2+0 and Double Strike. I tried to offer him cash for it, but he just won't let it go. I want that card!


Double Strike, if you don't already know, gives a creature First Strike and Second Strike capabilities. Hitting twice with First Strike; just imagine the possibilities...

I have a Double Strike creature myself, but it isn't the right color to fit in my deck. I use to use it as a instant power up creature, and kill opponents in one attack, but it didn't work out all the time, cuz it keep getting killed before I could attack. If that ability was stuck floating on the field, like the Fire Streakier, I would be unstoppable... lol
