| Final Fantasy III This game made it's official US debut in the form of a remake for the Nintendo DS. Talk about it or even the original NES version here. |

FFIII & The Mognet Sidequests (A Slightly Annoyed Gamers Plea)
Okay, is anyone else completely annoyed with this mognet crap that you have to use in order to unlock some of these sidequests? I mean I am truly, straight up annoyed by it. This is one of the many reason I loathe FFXI. Meh...what a lame idea. You know what they've done by adding these Mognet side quests? They have effectively made it so replayability goes away with time. Because everyone here knows that eventually the DS is going to become obsolete and nobody will be using them any longer. So when somebody wants to replay this game...they won't be able to do the side quests because they have nobody else to trade messages with. Well done Squenix on thinking past the end of your money grubbing nose.
*sigh* So anyway, I'm wondering if any of you are aware of a work around or a *everyone hold a collective breath* cheat to override the need to send messages to other players? I mean, could I start a new game and get a different friend code or is it the same friend code for every game you start? Is there any Action Replay codes? I mean any help would be greatly appreciated!! |

A little harsh on the big S-E there...
I can respect the decison to include such an extra feature. Under ideal circumstances, it is meant to promote player-player interactivity. On the other hand, as I am currently unable to figure out how the hell to connect my DS to my wireless router, I too can express frustration at this unfairly necessary (to get unnecessary side quests/jobs) feature.

Your DS won't recognize your router? That's kind of odd. I haven't had that problem at all thus far. Just had a problem with the whole idea of it. Sorry to hear about your woes. |

Since this thread was typically about MogNet and the WiFi connection, I just thought I'd post my question here instead of making a new topic since I will be using my WiFi for Final Fantasy III.
I have a Linksys WRT54GS. Nintendo's website says it only tested the WiFi connection on the WRT54GC, WRT54GX, WRT54G ver2, and WRT54G ver 3. All of these are obviously similar models, the S on my router is mearly symbolizing the Speedbooster it has along with the little USB receiver it came with. I also realize Nintendo didn't test all modems, but I was just curious if anyone had this same one I have and tested it okay. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I've had family invest a lot of money on the DS and the bagillion games they got me, and I'd like to know this works ![]() |

At first I really felt like you do, it was a pain to get set up, I wasn't sure if I was doing the thing correctly, it seemed to be more trouble than it was worth. But I now find that the online mail thing is one of the more interesting aspects of the game. Granted I've had my 7 mails out of the way for some time, but I'm finding that through the FF3 thing I've been able to find people to play toher DS games online with. I don't think if FF3 had forced me to go out and find people to finish those things, I would have never gone ahead with the others.
The part about later on in the games life though, that's something I hadn't thought about before. If someone were to get this game in a year or two, yeah I think they'd have trouble finding someone to send mail to ><, hopefully sites like this will still be around and they'll be able to find someone to give them a code. I mean, we've got a huge list of poeple currently, I'd like to think that there'd be at least one person still around to help them out...but you never know. I wish I knew more about the wireless thing to maybe help out with that, at my place we're using an apple airport wireless router and it works like a charm, took me a while to figure out that I had to set up the wireless connection outside the games before I could use it inside >.> But that's just my fault for not reading all the documentation ahead of time heh. |

As far as I'm aware of, the information is saved on to your card, not your save. This is because after each WFC session, regardless of the game, the card requires a save to be processed. In FFIII DS's case, that means record the sent process. Try this, send a mail via WFC to a buddy, and close the power w/o saving your game. Start the game again, and check 1) if you could send another mail w/o waiting for one hr (answer should be no), 2) if your buddy received it, and most importantly 3) if you could progress further with the mailing requirements. I've tested it and it seemed to have worked fine for me for all 3. I haven't had the time to test 4) start a new game and see if I can progress further in mailing requirements though.
So, moral of the story? Send mails now, worry about it later. If you're a loner and don't want to do a little bit of communication, then you shouldn't be playing games that have WiFi icons ![]() |

Actually I am little. I got this game shortly after it came out. Didn't play much at first and then not a at all for several months (wasn't playing any games at the time). Started playing again and theres not much action on any of the forums I found for this game.
It wouldn't be so bad if the FC carriers across games, say mognet on all future Nintendo FF titles or whatever. I like the idea of it, but I'm already seeing the problem after some time passes. Anyway FC is 4209 9267 7384 If anyone is still playing I sure it will be a few more months till I'm done with it. |
