What is "FF Tactics" about?

Hi! I am thinking about to have Final Fantasy: Tactics. But I stilll don't know what is it about. Can you explain me about this game? Is this like strategy?

Well FF Tactics is a strategy rpg..much like that in games like Tactics Ogre, Vandal Hearts, all the newer PS2 strategy rpgs. Most of strategy rpgs revolve around their battles and FF Tactics is no different. You'll spend most of your time fighting long battles, you don't actually visit any towns. You merely pick from a town menu when you want to buy weapons, armor, and items. Character development is done thru the job system like the one seen in V. There's prob something like 20 classes to master, including some of the special ones. This includes Knight, Black Mage, Ninja, Samurai, etc.

The story itself is very dark and complicated, but one of the best in the series. It is hard to explain all here without ruining things but the basic premise of the game is you are stuck in the middle of a war of succession (The Lion War). The game takes place in Ivalice where the recent king died without any heir to the throne. There are two parties at odds to who is going to claim the throne for themselves, one is the late king's cousin, and the other is the brother of the widowed queen. You play as the son of a noble and hero of the war and his friend as they must chose which side they are on. The plot of the game is modelled after the War of the Roses.

The story itself is great, but often times can be complicated, especially with so many names and because it suffered from a somewhat rushed and bad translation. Though if you are a fan of strategy rpgs, this game is a must.
