I thought it was more like FFVII, with Vann and Ashe in love (like Cloud and Aeris) and Penelo an old friend who secretly loves and wants Vann (like Tifa).

I really don't think that Penelo has secret feeling for Vaan. They just seem like childhood friends but I could be wrong. I guess we're gonna have to wait and find out when it comes out.

It was originally revealed that Penelo and Vaan were a couple, but then the information got changed to them being 'just friends'. I liked the idea of them already being together, because it would be a change for Squeenix... instead of the whole "teenage angst love caused by apocalyptic circumstances" angle they always do. The childhood friend thing was so... FFVII. Come on, wouldn't it be more interesting if they were a couple then he falls for the princess and cheats on Penelo? That's actually realistic. Or even better, they do a one-night stand and he realizes that the princess is a bitch and the girl he really loves is indeed Penelo, but she finds out and dumps his ass... so he's left with nobody.

As for who he really ends up with, at this point I don't care... I'm not fond of guys that look like flat-chested girls... of course, man-boobs would be even worse... I mean he looks like someone out of a Shonen-Ai or some shit. I'm more interested in the princess than that freak of nature.

I'm not sure for certain, since I choose not to read any indepth info on RPG games until I play it. It kills the experience, IMHO. I doubt it is focused on love too much since it is made by the team who did FFT, and well.. that was a political story, not a love story. I just hope its more of a realistic story than the last few. Sure, I loved the games, but the way characters acted seemed unnatural. Dare I say they need to take pointers from Xenosaga/gears? XD

Awwww man...Wanted Penelo and Vaan to be together but in the game they seem to be closer then just friends but...not going to say where but when they hug....Seems a little more than just a friend thing.
Does Fran and Baltheir go together??? Just asking.

Spoiler: No there are no love couples in FF12, not even Balthier and Fran. The closest you get is the brother/sister-like love between Vaan and Penelo

forget that spoiler. Panelo loves vaan and vaan has the secret hots for fran. WHILE Basch is in love with the princess BOOM! figured it out my 8th hour playing ! I think there should always be some kind of bro/sis friend ship some kind of love some kind of rivalry and some kind of vosser where no one wants him around.

well i aint that far in the game but it seems that Vaan has the hots for Penelo and so im gonna say that it should be Vaan and Penelo. for Right now that is. Ill edit this once i get farther otherwise its gonna be the same opinion that i have.

I haven't played the game yet, but does that mean Penelo and Vaan are the main couple and it's not Ashe and Vaan?

It's really no secret that there aren't any couples in this game..and especially not Ashe and Vaan. This isnt FF-X..people are wanting the game to have couples when it doesn't. Trust me it's much better off this way.
