After much thought and viewing the worship from this game I have to ask why is their so much fandom over this game? Yes I have beaten the game over 2 years ago so I can't remember much but from what I do remember:

I could take the time to explain..but it's probably more or less the same thing i said in the "Why is FF VI better than FF VII" forum. My explanation is very long i must say..but check it out
You'll definitely have to replay it again and see what the final verdict is. I also love IV, its my second favorite behind VI. I thought VI crushed it on many levels though

Main reason why it is so popular is almost same as FF VII. FF VI was last one for SNES like FF VII was first on PSX. It has great story and because (maybe) Square knew that next game won't be on SNES, they decided that if we are going to make last game for SNES, let's make it best of the serie. (I think.)

I agree with you, Testbug...well Final Fantasy IX is second in line but, Final Fantasy VI is not only so underrated but so great itself.
The characters are greatly done with their past and shit, the music is 16 Bit but still really good because Nobuo really knows how to set the mood. The only little thing I hate about Final Fantasy VI is how hard the fights become when the world becomes messed up after The Floating Continent. I hate doing that but with Celes & Sabin. Overall, phenomal game. =] |

You had to have played it when it was the latest game out in the market to really understand why most of us liked it so much, but yeah there are some fans who recently beat it as well. Right now, I play FFXI and I absolutely love it due to the fact that it's my first MMORPG and I get to play with friends. FFVI was one of Squaresoft's greatest hits and probably the game that earned them their reputation as one of the greatest RPG creators to date.

They should redo FFVI like, for the Playstation 3 or something because I think it would be a hit bringing back the retro side of Final Fantasy and combining it with today's modern technology and graphics. Like they did with Final Fantasy I & II with Final Fantasy Origins.

FFVI fandom is because it was actually a really good game, its overlooked by many of the modern players because of it's "annoying graphics" lets start a list of things that are different/better(?)/reasons we overall like VI
1.) The biggest cast of charaters in any FF (14 playable charaters, not including NPC and people you get to play temp *cough*) 2.) The gignormous cast makes for a really intricate story depending on how far you want to play into it, i would say more but I wouldnt want to spoil the game for the new players. 3.) Okay, this isnt so much a reason, but I think it may be why my opinion is a little biased, this Final Fantasy was the first one I ever played, next to Mystic Quest, and the first one I beat, next to MQ ![]() *edit* 14 total characters, not 12 >.<;; Last edited by TheDarkDragoon; 10-08-2006 at 07:33 AM. |

I reckon VI is better than VII by far lol. Sure VI is easy but it is such a wonderful game. The storyline was very entertaining and it had a lot of twists in it. The characters were all unique and I loved them all (except Gau)
. The graphics didn't annoy me actually, I thought they were perfectly fine. The world map thing didn't worry me, I liked how that was. I guess it all depends on taste in the end. Not everybody likes the same thing after all.Testbug is right, it was easy but difficult at the same time. Certain things were easy while others weren't. I didn't find it to be horribly easy. Testbug's post explains everything perfectly! ![]()

Good observations guys..
I like how you pointed out about the characters. Even though Terra's character might be the one that ultimately drives the plot, to me there is true main character in FF VI. Each one has a different personality and brings something different to the table. It kinda shows how all these different people from different backgrounds and stories can be brought together for a common goal. Haha you didnt like Gau though? I thought he was a great character..i especially liked the scene where you find his dad and you get him all dressed up and looking nice before Gau meets him. Plus his theme song is one of my favs from the game. In battle i definitely didn't use him much though.I guess it can be criticized for being a little easy over some other titles..but there are definitely ones which are easier. I think both X and X-2 are the easier, maybe even IX. You're right tho, some bosses in VI can be hard.

First of all you guys seem confused to what I mean by "annoying graphics", I don't mean the 2D aspect as I quite liked the graphics of the older ones. I am more refering to the general imagery, its like trying to look detailed whilst looking messy at the same time.
With having many characters can go either way, I remember each had there on little part to do with the story but it you would think it made the game much longer, I don't remember if I did all the sidequests or not but I remember it only took me roughly 30ish hours to complete, if there was so much to add with the characters surely it would have taken me much longer than that. FFVII took me roughly 80 hours to complete and I did both of them without a guide. I guess by the time I got to it I was completely use to the battle system but I think this is the only RPG where I haven't got angry and thrown the controller at the screen, believe it or not that is a bad sign in my books. But also I will try and do a bit more tonight but we'll see. I'll give my complete opinion when I've completed it again. |

Did anyone notice at the end of FFIV, it plays that theme from FFIV when Kain and Cecil go through to the village and it shows all that text? You didn't like the battle stuff Wintermetal?! (a) You can't get more jazzed up than that battle theme (b) Some of the stuff you can do in the battle..abilities wise (c) The enemy graphics were fairly good (The majority weren't super mega huge like in FFIV, that was cool too).
