Xbox 360 or PC?

I was wondering if FF XI is better on the Xbox 360 or the PC? I have it on the PC, its just my computer isn't the greatest when it comes to playing MMO's. But is it better on the 360? I'm trying to decide if I should get it on the Xbox or not.

Well it depends, do you have a 360 already? If you have one, then it will not really hurt to have it for the 360. It is more or less like playing it on the PC. I prefer the feel of a controller when I play the game. If you do not have a 360 already then do not buy one, because why a console that you want to play only one game on. It is not really worth it. Same thing goes for the PS2, if you do not have a PS2 then it is not worth buying it for the one game.

Playing FFXI is perfect on any of the platforms, if you do have the 360 already and concerned about frame and things like that, you probably want the 360 version because you know the game was meant to run on the console so you will get all of the prettiness. But remember it is not all about the pretty.

Yeah I have an Xbox 360. And thank you for helping me decide if I should get it or not.

I've never played the game on pc, just on 360. I have it, anyway it's really good there. Easyer to play better graphics. But it's also possible to get it on PS2, if you get it custome on the internet. I'm waiting for mine now...

I had a friend who had it on the PS2.He said the graphics aren't that great on there, so he decided to go with the Xbox 360. But I heard though its not that bad. IMO, I'd prefer any console than the PC.

I own the PC and PS2 versions of the game and will continue to prefer the PS2 over the PC everytime, even with the shiny graphics. I also would prefer it over the 360 since I prefer the dualshock controller. But most MMO are not made for a console, FFXI was originally designed to be a console MMO. So that is why it feels better on the PS2, that was the original machine it was made for.

I find the graphics on the PS2 to be fine, there is nothing wrong with them. They do not have bump mapping or high res textures, but the game plays and looks the same still. It is still a beautiful looking game on the PS2, probably more so than the PC and 360 because everything is too clean on the PC so it looks weird. There is certain quality that the PS2 has that makes it feel more real and life like than the other counterparts. That is my opinion.

If I was using just a keyboard on the PC then I would prefer the PS2, but with my Nostromo n52, it makes playing on the PC much better to me. I have instant access to all my CTRL and ALT macro keys without having to mash multiple buttons, use two hands, or stretch my hands far to get to a key. It eliminates most of the 'macro goofups' since your hand is always in the same place. Plus, I can set up the keys to be any keyboard key, controller key, or even a string of keystrokes. Its really the best of both worlds. I have a great controller and mini-keyboard all in one device. Playing without a controller on a PC is just... wrong. Its like playing a flight game without a joystick... O.o A keyboard is for typing.. not controlling a character. ^_^

Anyway, I also prefer the PC because I love my expensive-ass LCD screen.. Coupled with the high-res textures it simply makes the PS2 and 360 look paltry in comparison.

Oh and I wouldn't recommend the PS2 version to anyone simply because the HD idea was a flop. You spend all that money to get the hard drive and game but it can only be used on an older PS2. It is not compatible with the slimline ones. So, if your PS2 breaks, you're screwed. You can't go buy a new PS2 and play the game. Now, with the PS3 coming out in November, there is a possibility that you can play it on there. I have heard no word on whether it will be compatible or not though. I don't think Squeenix has mentioned it yet. Its something to think about before shelling out cash.

As for the 360 version, if you have one already, I'd say go for it if you want. If you don't have a 360, thats a lot of damn money for a console. The PS3 will be even more though... they are getting quite outrageously priced.

^.^ I play on the PC because I use the Gamepad controller and it's much easier. I don't own a 360, but I bet it would work great on there. Either one is acceptable! -.^

i have FFXI for the 360 and i like just because i like consoles better, but if you get it for the 360 you should get a keyboard for it because its annoying to type with the controller. besides that i dont think the gae play is any diffrent
