Getting my ass thromped in Pandemonium...

so i'm playing FFIIj on the NES. i have a fan translated hacked cart of the original FFII - so please, advice coming from FFII: DoS or FFII: Origins on easy is not going to help much.

all of my characters' HP and MP is astronomical. MP over 1,000 - which they don't even have enough places in the menu screen - and HP between 4,000-7,000.

i can make it through the jade portal no problem. but as soon as i teleport to pandemonium i always get my ass handed to me in like 2 battles! it's the stone golems - i can't do more that 190-312 max crits on them, but they hit for 1500-2100 HP!!! i have all the best gear and i feel like i should be able to do this.

am i missing something? is there a trick to taking down the stone golems?

Well, Ur missin the blood swords. If u make it 2 the 4f, then u get all the genji items. And in 1n floor, U get the MASAMUNE. It cab dish out 500 on stone golems. Just cast protect on every 1n and berserker. That helped me. If u run into Death riders, U are almost done for. My people have 9999hp(Every 1n) and they take away like 4000-6000hp on me. On ur guys, They will take away about 3000-4000 or so.

Your welcome. Whatch out om 4f tho. The chests are gaurded by 5000hp monsters besides zombie borgen.

yeah just keep on trucking with a blood or genji sword and the masamune and youll probably live. if you keep having trouble try getting your vitality up by going in a weak enemy area and attack your teamates until they get more hp and vitality. for more tips go to rpgclassics.com and search ff2 for the shrine.

Ummmm did u get the EXaulibur? It's really good almost as good as the masamune. If u run into a iron giant, then just run or if u want good equiment fight it. It's weak 2 thunder and fire.

yeah make sure you have guy of firionel have this sword or your gonna get pwnd. blood swords work very well for some reason on emporer as well so keep using them.

yay!!! i finally kicked this game's ass!!!

turns out that my fan translated hacked NES cart had a bug in it - where if i encountered a mithril golem with two doom knights behind him, the knight in the lower left corner had endless hitpoints. i went all the way through jade just to get my ass handed to me on the first floor of pandemonium... AGAIN.

so i breathed in deeply and decided to give it one last try - one last run through that horrid end double-dungeon just hoping that i didn't run across the glitched encounter.

AND I DIDN'T!!!!

i picked up masamune and decided to say "fuck it" to the genji armor set - went straight for the emperor. haha i didn't get the info about blood swords being good on him until after i had unequipped BOTH of them thinking that they wouldn't do enough damage LOL. but after 10-15 rounds of serious beat downs on both sides, the undead emperor fell, and peace was once again restored to the kingdom.

i must admit, at the end when...

Spoiler: the ghosts of all your party members who died come back and nod at you before disappearing once again

i started crying like a little bitch. and then during the credits when "Composer: Nobuo Uematsu" appeared, i completely lost it. it was a teary eyed farewell to a flawed, but ever powerful final fantasy.

now it's on to my final fantasy III NES cart!!!!

LOL this is exactly the problem I had as well and beleive me it gets SO much worse when you fight the dark knights or something. I'm really not sure what else to suggest other than countless grueling hours of using the swap magic or just getting beat up....also don't open treasure chests.
