Return of Final Fantasy Radio

Here is some big news, and I'm sorry if this is posted elsewhere already.

Square Enix is going to relaunch its Final Fantasy Radio exclusively through aolradio.com. Some may remember it back in 2003, and it is now back by popular demand. Here is the full story:

LOS ANGELES – July 24, 2006 – Due to an outpouring of support from its fans, Square Enix, Inc. ("Square Enix"), the publisher of Square Enix™ products in North America, and AOL today announced the return of the FINAL FANTASY® station exclusively to AOL Radio http://www.aolradio.com. The station, which was a mainstay on AOL® Radio from November 2003 – April 2004, features tracks from legendary composers such as Nobuo Uematsu.

FINAL FANTASY radio will host a collection of tracks from the world’s top-selling video game franchise, and is available to anyone for free on AOL Radio http://www.aolradio.com. Additional information on the music of FINAL FANTASY can be found at http://na.square-enix.com/music.

The FINAL FANTASY station continues to complement other features for the popular gaming franchise on AOL, including a full breakdown of all FINAL FANTASY games as part of AOL Games’ Anime Gaming Guide. The addition of the FINAL FANTASY station is independent from AOL Radio’s Video Game Scores station, which was launched in large part due to the original FINAL FANTASY station’s popularity.

I suggest that they begin making the Final Fantasy OSTs available in the mainstream U.S. music market. Henceforth, Final Fantasy will be the very first Japanese-origin video game series to mass market its OSTs in the United States.

How impressive is it to be able to create a radio station based on a video game. I'm telling you all (like I need to tell this crowd) Final Fantasy is the greatest series ever.

Remember that movie Bill and Teds excellent adventure where they supposedly start a band that brings world peace? I think that they had it all wrong what is really going to happen will be that everyone will find the goodness of Final fantasy and then bam world peace baby!

Amazing to think that a series of video games could generate so much interest that they can devote an entire radio station just to the music from them! If you'd tried telling me that 10 years ago I would've laughed my ass off!

You don't have to have AOL to play it. I don't and it works just fine as long as you download the player first.

Hehe, first song it started playing when I started it: Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec, aka Succession of Witches from Final Fantasy VIII. That's a good sign, music from one of my favorite games first thing. ^^ The quality is really nice too.

Maybe they'll start playing music from XII before the game is released. XD The few clips I've heard sound really really good. We can only hope.
