Question Overdrives?

Hey guys i just wanted 2 know if FF4 had limit breaks how would they look like and would u want them in the game?

I already thought of 3(1 fr Cecil 1n fr Rosa and 1n fr Rydia).

For Cecil, He would attacks the monster(s) 5 times and then holy or dark(Depending on if ur a paldin or dark knight) blast would attack the monster(s).

For Rosa, She would shot 10 arrows up in the air and they would all fly down on the moster(s) causing damage.

Rydia would summon every single summon she had and they would all attack one at a time causing massive damage.

Ye si would want limit breaks for Iv but not ones that do 9999 damage because then the game becomes really easy. The limit breaks could do 1000+ damage.

Overall that sounds like a cool idea. Maybe instead of causing 1000+ damage it could be based on the characters attributes....

For Kain, i could picture him jump really high and cause an explosion on the enemies......yeah....

That one would be nice 2 c! Edge could like steal 3 items from the monster and then throw 3 super darts at it.

I don't agree with the idea of Limit Breaks in FFIV.
Let's stop for a moment, and consider the characters in FFIV and how they act in battle.

Nothing too unbelievable happening, right?

I feel that FFIV was a little too grounded in medieval realism to have extravagant supermoves and stuff. Hell, Kains Double-Jump in FFIVA was a tad too fantasy-oriented for the feel of FFIV, IMO.

Well....you do make a point.

I simply think overdrives should be in the game since they would loosen up the player. It would simply avoid the eventual feeling of playing through repetition in battles. Even though it would make the game feel too fantasy-oriented, its worth it isn't it?

Drop realism....encourage gameplay...

Well i agree with u but somtimes if u fight a boss ur not prepared for and its really hard fr u 2 get out of the level then u can just use your overdrive. Like in FFIVA Brachioraidos uses strong attacks and your attacks are like bees trying 2 sting him. It would be good for SOME tight spots but not all. I personally think its a good idea.

Indeed, I'm with Wyatt on this one.

They had "desperation" attacks in FF6 which, to be honest were'nt all that spectacular to look at.. and the conditions in doing so required your HP to be slapped down into critical or single digits.. the attacks numbers were stupidly random in FF4 as is so its really hard to say you know. Critical Hits are good enough for the task IMO, makes the screen flash a few times.. wee.

Plus, how excatly would you make sprites those size look like some ability of the sort? there was only room in the memory for about 20 different sprites per character lol.

I agree with Meteor rain, it would make the game easy. I understand it could be useful in some situations but it might be cool if you could use limit breaks like FF8. Where it just randomly pops up, depending on your health %. I also wouldn't mind seeing tougher enemies too.

Well i am on both sides in this one. I want 2 c how Overdrives would look in an old skewl FF but then it might make it 2 easy. But if they did, They could of made every monster have 5000 more or 20000 more hp.
