Advent Children Question-relationship with characters

I have a question. I've watched Advent Children twice and I still can't figure out exactly what Cloud and Tifa's relationship is. Are they married or not? I thought they were, and that Denzel was their kid because he reminds me of Cloud a bit. My friend looked up on Wikipedia and it says Denzel is just an orphan and Cloud and Tifa aren't married. I believe this, but what did Cloud mean when he and Tifa spoke and Cloud said something about their "family?" I thought he meant himself with Tifa and the children.

They're like a family in ways, Cloud and Tifa in the long run would probably marry or atleast keep living together.
And Denzel is another orphan like Marlane.

Yeah. A family doesn't have to mean that you're married and have blood children or anything like that. I don't know why people always think that.

A family can have anyone you want.

Cloud meant that they were like a family. Like a girlfriend living with her boyfriend. They aren't married but close enough that they might call it a family.

It's a metaphor, if you understand them.

they have a close connection, they have been friends for a long time, they are like a family, i think it would turn into something else, its just in advents children cloud, rejected contact with his friends because he blamed himself for aeris death.

Because they were movie exclusive characters. They were introduced there so they can't be in any of the games.
