Robot Rights

This thought has really been annoying me lately, so i wanna hear your opinions

Sometime in the future(if were still alive to see it), humans will create more complex robotics, androids, cyborg or whatever. Seeing as how such things like PETA(People of the Ethical Treatment of Animals), do you think there will be crackpots that say robots should be included in the bill of rights? or Deserve Humane treatment despite being no more then metal and circuits?What about Advanced A.I.? would you consider a robot that has feelings be a human?

I think i am going insane from boredom by posting a stupid topic such as these but robots are not Human in any way. Sure they can learn and emulate humans, but there just not humans. A robot feeling human emotion makes it human?

There will for sure be people out there who will think they deserve the same rights as us. They will do everything in they're power to help them. And if you do creast AI progams and are able to simulate emotions and all that, I'm sure they might one day get those rights.

Have you seen the news? I heard something about people in I think it was the middle east who are trying to give apes all the same rights as humans have on the bill of rights and the ammendments.

Yeah I can see that happening. Although we have "robots" right now, working in the manufacturing sectors. Except they don't look like the cutesy-wootsy robots you see in the movies. More like mechanical arms and whatever.

I dunno, I'd probrably feel bad for them. I did while watching the movie I, Robot. That part where all the old models were shoved away at the dried up Lake Michigan really made me sad. I mean wtf? They're ROBOTS. lol

Hisari does have a point, though. Artifical intellegence, simulating emotions, etc. I can see them becoming like that...and then slowly becoming more and more human as time progresses and technology advances.

Hell, it could even reach the point of a robot/human war, just like in I, Robot. And then we'd have to get Will Smith to kick their asses all over again. >_<

Well, by emulating humans, it would only be natural that we emulate our own rights and beliefs and such into them...

Ooh, think of that. A Christian robot.

But I can see us, even though we created them and their emotions (assuming that's how robots will...will...smiiiiiith.......o_o........evolve) would sympathize and give them such rights or have laws protecting them.

That's interesting about those monkeys. Kind of the same difference...

I don't believe that true AI will ever be achieved anyway (though I am entirely open to being wrong). I wrote an essay on the matter for my course, Infact. I'll upload it some time.

Still, should we achieve the power of a human mind or greater artificially, then there probably will be a whole bill of rights or whatever written for them. It's inevitable really, somebody will demand it. More and more people will support it.
Still, whether or not robots are given rights, they'll have to be given repsonsibilities. Infact, the robot manufcaturers will be given a whole load of repsonsibilities themselves.

I think I shuddered about 5 times over when I read that. To think a tire-less entity that could go on for DAYS about their beliefs, and won't back down on them whatsoever!

Ai willl never become so advanced that robots will feel like us, but it will get very close to that point I think.
Something will need to be done in the future to stop the risk of turning mindfull robots into slaves, as it is still cruel.
Also maybe its cruel to try to replicate emotions.
