The "Member Business" section.

As some of you may have noticed, New Members is gone.

Well, guess what? It's not. The forum is now for both comings AND goings. Reading the forum description would tell you that.

In any case, we now have a place for leaving/away/return threads.

There is also a new subforum for TFF Families. This used to be a massive thing a few years back, and recent buzz about it has prompted me to give it its own home. Post counts and gold counts are OFF, so don't be surprised when your post count doesn't go up. Deal with it, eh?

Zell Dincht has been made moderator of the TFF Family forum. He is a secondary moderator, meaning he has less power and can only control that single forum. As such, I don't think this would merit any sort of complaints from anyone. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that he's not a "real" moderator.

Anywho... that's that. I'll probably C&P this into a forum-wide announcement.

I like the idea of merging the comings and goings. Good times.

Do our post counts drop or something after this...? Like somebodys like Raven has almost only post in new members section...it wouldn't be nice if they drop...

Oh, right... I actually forgot that Fuzz turned the post count on in that forum. Okay, well, I guess post counts will remain on, but they're off for the new subforum. I'll fix that in the first post, since I was in error to begin with.

Anywho, to answer PA, families used to be like... well, families. You would talk to people about them becoming your aunt or son or etc., and it would be so. It used to be a huge craze back in the day. I'm not sure where this forum will end up. It might even be a huge failure. If that's the case, I'll make it go away... it happens, right? For now, consider it an experiment.

I don't intend on changing the Member Business section back to a strictly newcomers forum, though... that's something I've been wanting to change for a couple years now.

I have moved the Official Birthday Thread into the Member Business forum. It is now stickied there, so it won't keep getting lost. Should help to prevent any new birthday threads and the sort.

I expect the General Chat moderators to be aware of this.

For example... Say I wanted to be your dad, and you wanted to be my son, we would now have like an official TFF relationship?

And that does what? I am assuming just for fun.

Personally I think its better to turn off the post counter in the new members forum, a lot of people just spam in there to get a higher post count. Also perhaps you should move the picture thread in there too. Anyway I am looking foward to see how it goes, could be interesting

Post count used to be off there until some point last year when Fuzz turned it on. To be honest, I'm not sure why it was turned on to begin with, but as long as the Member Business forum remains fairly decent in terms of post content, I won't remove it.

Yes but a good question would be what quantifies as decent. You could just repeat the same welcome post over and over again, just changing the name so it fits the person whose thread it is

Well, that's also something we've been pondering over lately.

The content in that section has become increasingly repetitive and/or spammish in nature. I'll just keep an eye on it, and if I decide to go ahead and turn off the post count again, I'll be sure to say so here.

On the one hand, it's just a stupid, meaningless number... but on the other hand, a lot of people really enjoy the ranks and the gold, which are all inflenced by post count.

I could always leave the gold on and turn the post count off (so you would get gold for posting, but not a counter). It would mean members would have to venture outside of the Member Business forum in order to get their ranks up, but could still earn money for welcoming people. I know most of them use it in the Arcade anyway, so it's not like it's hurting anything.

You know, that's actually not a bad idea. I might end up doing that.
