FFXI PS2 or PC?

I've been debating which one is easier to control and which one is better, FFXI for PS2 or for the PC? What do you think?

The PC version has better graphics, and as far as I can tell, if you use an appropriate gamepad (e.g. Logitech Rumblepad 2) the controls are identical to the PS2 version.

I don't know about PS2 since I've never used it, but on the computer, I can navigate through the game very nicely. Gotta love the numpad configuration though. I hardly use the mouse and I am able to react to many situations easily. If I play PS2 and can play the game with just the keyboard, I'd do it. Same for XBOX 360.

I enjoy the PC version alot better than the others. The controls just come natural to me on all systems, but PC comes with the keyboard ;P No having to worry about buying one seperatly.

A question: On the ps2 version outside of a headset, how can you communicated with other players?

You type with a keyboard. If you don't have a keyboard... you use the controller or something.

The PS2 does not use a headset, you do all your communicating through typing that is how it is done for all version of the game. I personally prefer the PS2 because the controller simplified the controls down to the basics that make reacting to the situation faster. I would play with a controller for the game whether it was PC or PS2, but since I do not have a logitech controller for the PC, I am on the PS2.

I would suggest the controller for playing on the PC because it is faster to play the game that way in my opinion. So PS2 you need a keyboard, PC you need a controller. It is up to you, do you want to set in a chair 12 inches from your computer monitor or set 5 feet away in the comfort of a couch and play on your PS2. I would pick the couch. Makes you wonder why so many people pick a pick a chair over a couch. Pretty graphics actually ruin the game for me, because it is so clean cut, makes the game look rather ugly.

Well, interesting question. I use to play FFXI about a year ago on the PS2. It was definitely sweet playing FFXI on the couch with a controller/keyboard and playing on the TV. Sad news is, if you take a break from FFXI....your PlayOnline registration dies. How do you revive it? You have to buy FFXI again. Not a huge deal, until you find out that the game itself is virtually not sold anywhere anymore; unless you want to buy the $100 Game+HD AGAIN. The Original FFXI for PS2 game is unattainable without buying the package. What a bummer.

So to get back in the game, I simply just bought the $19.95 Collection for the PC. The graphics are nice, my computer chair is comfortable....and if I call technical support at PlayOnline they actually will talk to me.

I have not bought a controller for the PC but I will.

PC > PS2.

Boy do I miss playing on the PS2 though >_>

Well if your computer can handle it

Get it for the PC for sure i have the ps2 version and it cost a fortune between the usb key board and the network adatper and the game itself.

I say the PC

Hey you can have wireless controls then you can be just as far as your console. On a side note does the PC version support a rumble feature like a dual shock controller?

From personal play of the PC version, the graphics were better than some of the PS2 videos ive seen but there only videos after all, but im sure the controllers on the PC will be easier but not THAT much easier, you'll get the same experience from both versions so dont worry about it man.

Yes, it does. As long as your controller supports it of course
