Learning to draw anime

I have started to gain an interest in drawing anime, I think my drawing capabilities are fine but I don't have a scanner to sketch my characters so I am stuck with Paint. Anyway I want to learn how to do shading and colours with the people and such, dont want to make them look too cartoonish. Anyway if anybody can help me then that would be great.

here is the first thing I've attempted to draw but its just a rough sketch and I will tidy it up soon.

Thats a pretty good attempt

Specially on paint, i remember when i used to use it.
It pretty hard as its limited on what you can use.

I've been able to draw anime for a couple years now and I think I understand how it works.

Now, there are many different styles of drawing within anime. Like for example there's Tenchi, Samurai X, or Cowboy Bebop, they all have a level of art within anime. Some of the most important things in drawing though is the face and facial expressions. Most of the time the nose is either well drawn or just a simple mark. The eyes can look goofy or sharp, (DBZ has a perfect example of that since all their eyes are connected to their eyebrows XD), or some anime artist try to make it more realistic.

My advice is to find a lot of anime styles and try drawing out the facial features themself, eyes, nose, lips, but one of the most important features is the roundness of the face. Like most women in anime have small chins while most guys have slightly bigger chins. Or men have larger necks while women have sort of stick like necks. You need to learn the basics of that. As for the body in anime it's the same as American art except not AS detailed. Clothing is a bit difficult though if you've never drawn much clothing. That's my advice on that subject for ya.

you know what? i love your picture so much that i've made it my background. no not to make fun of you in anyway, but to support the fact that you are trying to learn to draw. and since i'm so much into drawing and art, i love that picture very much. ~Never Erase, each added line helps to create a better picture, i alwaze say.~ and that's my quote. lol have fun drawin man. and props to ur first pic.

Hehe, my brother and I used to be so
into sailor moon a long time ago. I remember
we used to rent it from block buster on VHS
every time we went there, and we'd pause
it at various scenes and draw.

This is before
we had internet of course.
Right now, I consider myself pretty good at
drawing anime, since I've been doing it for
so long. On paint though? I dunno that is hard
haha. Good job odin. ^^

Yeah I tried to draw it on paint but its quite hard to get it to flow smoothly. I have got a scanner on my mums PC so 1 day I may load something up and try and finish it properly though I am not that good with shading and such or anything to do with colours via photoshop it will be good to teach me.

Right now I am busy with 2 stories, an RP, another game and the TOA to draw anything up but I may do something soon.

I've tryed to draw anime for 6 years........the thing is i only have one decent picture.(yuna on the cover of Final Fantasy X-2) drawing is hard and props to those who are good at it!
