Draw magic or use MP?

As you all know in FFVIII you draw magic off monsters, bosses etc. but in some other FF games you use MP.
My question is "Which do you prefer, drawing magic or using MP?"
I prefer using MP because you can buy ether's at item shops outside of battle whereas when you draw magic you have to use up a turn in battle to get the magic.

MP totally....

I have never gotten through FF8 because I hated that system so much. The whole drawing magic thing made me mad. Wht was wrong with MP? Nothing.

I suppose they felt the need to change it up a bit and maybe add a little variety to the series, but that ruined it for me. Granted, it wasn't a difficult process, it just got rather annoying...

I will stick with MP.

Yeah I agree with you all the way. I guess they did want to change it a little and not make it too repetitive. It gets annoying when you keep having to draw magic over and over again.
Q: What do you think of the whole junctioning magic idea?

A. Junctioning and drawing was clever, but unfortuantly it seems just too complex a system for most people which I think is a shame as I quite enjoyed it. Also, if you used cast on the draw menu, it would use your opponents magic, a clever touch I thought.

Definatly MP. It was much easier to restore MP than find the right monsters to draw from, draw points, and cards/items to modify to get the desired magic. You do begin to get the hang ofit and stok up on spells, but I definatly prefer being able to get it all back to max with an ether or elixer.

It was a good idea to change the system, and it wasnt bad once you became accoustemed to how to get the spells you most need.

I would rather use MP. It is so easy to restore. For drawing it was hard to find good magic and if you actually used the magic that you drew your stats would decrease which is a major downfall! I would use MP any day.

I actually preferred drawing and junctioning the magic in the game. I thought it was a really good idea. Instead of having a certain amount of MP to use up, you have the amount of spells which I really liked. You couldn't run out of MP at all. I find it annoying in other FF games where I keep running out of MP! It's also good because the items you collect throughout the game can be turned into spells. It's great in my opinion. Then you could junction the certain spells to your weapon and stuff so your character would be immune to a certain element. Or you could raise their attack and defense. I liked it.

Although now that I think of it, it does really render Elixirs and Megalixirs pointless as you can fully heal with a couple of potions, but I guess I'm nitpicking.

Drawing could be better in some ways. One is that you draw it and then you can cast it without wasting anything. Another is that you dont need to see the mp that covers a portion of the screen. ha. But still sometimes a monster doesnt have a desired spell so i too, would prefer mp.

I think junctioning magic is a great idea as it can give you an extra edge when fighting hard bosses or monsters. Unfortunately, some people do struggle to get to grips with the whole junctioning idea. Casting on the draw menu is good but not as effective as using your own magic as it take less damage when you draw-cast it.
Q: Would it be a good idea to have a choice between MP and drawing magic in the game?

Are you guys serious? I totally loved the draw system more than the MP system.

I made it my mission to find all the hidden draw points on the world map, and I loved seeing the all the different combos you could figure out. I don't see how people think it's complex... I mean how hard is it to hit "auto" and allow the game to junction things in the most efficient/strongest manner?

I did that at first, and then when I got more familiar with junctioning, I branched off and tried my own combos. My personal fave was junctioning 100 death spells or whatever they were called. Having auto-death equipped to your weapon kicked ass.

I guess that is a good point about draeing magic... it can be used as a target to get all the hidden draw points in the world map, nice post Tiffany.
