Was this the easiest FF on playstation?
Before anyone charges in guns blazing, filled with righteous fury over my defilement seemingly of there favourite game. Quite intent on removing my proverbial head, putting it upon a pole and parading it around. I have played and finished this game, I did not dislike it either.
I ask this question as i recently opened my completed file, and noticed a few shocking facts. * I had nothing junctioned to defence * Zell did not posess his best weapon * I lacked Doomtrain and Eden. * Irvine did not posess large amounts of his best ammuniton. * It had took me a mere 26 hours to become all 99. With this poor stats I had finished the game, and Beaten Ultima and Omega. I was not particuarly good at the game, and it was not my favourite. It made me think, If me, with these poor items lack of the best Gf's and even nothing on defense, I had never struggled once with the game. FF6 i did not struggle much with either but Magi Master was a challenge. Here I swept Omega aside. Also several people I know have completed the game at ridicolously low levels, some just reaching double figures. So with the easy availability of best weapons, lack of any hugely challenging enemies, and once Lionheart is acquirred limited need for any other moves. Was FFVIII the easiest FF game on playstation?. Discuss |

I believe IX was easier than VIII, due to all the exclamation marks and questian marks guiding you throughout the game, plus all the enemies and bosses being weak, maybe except for Gizamaluke who was a nice boss that wasnt too easy like many disc 1 bosses.
Anyway, you can complete all Final Fantasy games without ultimate weapons and the strongest summons when you stay ahead of training. When I completed VII I only had Vincent on his final limit break (Cloud was on meteorain and Cid on dragon dive), and no Knights of the round. I completed it no hasstle, so VIII is the same. Basically, what made VIII's system different to that of the others was that enemies were always made to your level. This was making it a bit easier, though there are still tough opponents. I found Omega Weapon a challenge, and found that Ultimecia was stronger than a lot of other Final Fantasy final villains such as Kefka, Sephiroth, Kuja and Necron.

Agreed the constant ! and ? marks on FFIX made finding some items ridicolously easy. The same however can be said for FFVIII which would inform you of how to make better weapons, and in some cases armour so you were never stuck for weapon advancement. Unlike FFIX. Also the building of weapons left you with more money for items, which were rarely needed but that idea remains.
True all FF Games Maybe Minus IV can be finished lacking final weapons, I neither posessed final limits on FF7 or KOTR. The difference was I felt I needed them to advance to Sephiroth ( darn carry armour) On FFVIII I never had a feeling of needing them, they were more for completist sake and they never seemed to make too much different. On FFVII They FELT they made a difference. Though FFV trivialised them, but that is off topic. The enemy levels were a nice touch, but the enemies never seemed to become stronger to encourage levelling up. Unlike they did in other FF'S. Also the bosses seemed to be held back, any ultimate attacks they posessed they rarely used and even then they lacked oomph, also they rarely inconvenienced you. for example ruby weapon took two characters a HUGE inconvenience,Omega after his first attack seemed to fall into 4000 hp damage and little else. Plus status effects Sephiroth and Necron made you curse when they paralysed, slept etc ( though by that time everyone had ribbons, but the point remains) to me Ultemecia did nothing of that, and her attacks never seemed to be Final boss material. This may just be me i accept, but it struck me as held back the enemies. Also drawing made huge destruction easy within the first disk, and with Aura well enough said, Invincible. The game to me appeared to wish to give you an easy time. |

I think it is kind of a tie between VIII and IX. Final Fantasy VII was hard. I never even finished it.At the begining of the game VIII was really easy because of the juncture(can't spell) system. I mean after you get the hp jucture ability, you could have like 4000 hp really early in the game. After a while VIII started getting harder especially if Squall would be a few levels higher than the rest of the party. You really don't need to get the best weapons in any FF. I think IX was really easy also. If you equipped the right equipment it was a piece of cake. Yeah the Question marks and Exclamation made it supper easy. Yeah its a tie

I definitely don't think VIII is the easiest Final Fantasy game. I thought X was the easiest. I had trouble with some of the bosses in VIII unlike X which was pretty easy. Try comparing the end battle of X to VIII. X was really easy compared to VIII. Even though levelling up isn't important in this game, I still did it because I felt like it. I guess that makes it a little more difficult. Junction system helps out sometimes. I didn't find the game really easy though, it had its moments where I got stuck and couldn't get through it. I got there eventually though. I still don't think it's the easiest though.

I think all FF's are geared towards the player being able to finish them without too much trouble as they are, after all, telling a story. Wouldn't be much point in playing them if you didn't get to see the whole tale, would there?
The challenge comes when you play the game a second time and try to unlock all its secrets, hidden bosses etc. That said I did find FF5 harder than most. |

I thought it had its hard moments, like in the Ragnorok with the Propagators, they kicked my ass so bad for soo long and then I actually leveled up a bit coz I was on level 20. It was the first FF I finished so I though it was a bit easier in comparison to FFVII but still hard if you put not a lot of effort in.
And I agree I thought FFX was really easy I finished in like two weeks first go.

Am I the only person whom struggled with FFX?. Seemingly so, but while it may be easy this a question of Playstation 1 ( I could have stated that better,my apologies).
People's main problem seems to be the final boss. But in all honesty it dissapointed me. It did posess multiple stages (4?) which made it interesting. But it lacked the power i perceived of it. The ultimate witch and summon, I expected more than Apocalypse and (Griever's attack Supernova?) both of which were moderately damaging but not too an extreme extent. It didn't for me have any attacks that made me go " Dammit" and force me off attack. I had to heal yes, but apart from that it was all out offense, Sephiroth would sometimes kill my characters. Ultimecia never made me worry of this fact, even for a moment. In truth i struggled more over Tiamat. In fairness though final bosses on FF'S are rarely that difficult. Also indeed the facts of the file are more suprising than shocking. But i would never expect to get through an ff that easily. Also the bosses were too effected by the level capping which held THEM off some big moves. Seemingly it did want you to advance all the time, not just certain points. However there are some good arguments here which I did not take into account. Maybe i should replay FFIX. |

Maelstrom, Shockwave Pulsar, Great Attractor and Hell's Judgement are all pretty devastating if you ask me.
Also: I had nothing junctioned to defence - What was everyone's base defence? Zell did not posess his best weapon - That can happen in most FFs to be honest since Ultimate Weapons rarely do much more damage than the one before. I lacked Doomtrain and Eden - Same as above really, in most FFs summons become pretty obsolete towards the end of the game. Irvine did not posess large amounts of his best ammuniton - Not really that shocking if you don't use him. It had took me a mere 26 hours to become all 99 - 26 hours of constant (or near enough) battling? Last edited by Palazzo; 05-18-2006 at 07:04 AM. |
