why didnt cecil have holy magic imean he was a paladin.

I thought he didn't need it. I mainly only used him to attack. I only used his white magic to heal outside of battles.

Because he was a Holy (White) Soldier rather than a Holy (White) Mage?

He had strength and brute force to kill his enemies, he didn't need powerful magics too...

As spammy as the post is, well, theres 2 answers behind this riddle;

1. He is a Paladin, up until FF11 they were designed to (only) use the fundimental White Magic spell list to keep them going. In Cecil's case he was given all he needed to support himself and Cure when Rosa couldnt.

2. Holy is White Mage exclusive, and, costs 46 MP - which is a fair slice out of Cecil's MP in any event. lol

Even though Cecil's magic is pretty weak, the oppertunity to cast holy upon request is much better than casting it unwillingly on a reflect-casted monster. Therefore i agree that cecil should have holy within his arsenal.

On the other hand, who would cast for 5000 dmg when you could attack for 9999 dmg?

Simply because he's a warrior. Warrior's are the stereotypical brawn over brain people in FF games. Therefore Cecil was built for swords and not magic.
Plus you had better magic User's, when Cecil was hitting for 9999 damage.

well i think it would be cheap of he could use holy because then he would like hit 5670-9999 all the time

Well, by the time he would theoretically learn Holy anyway, he would already be doing a great deal of physical damage. In addition, his will I believe is much lower than that of say Rosa, meaning that even if he used Holy, it wouldn't be quite as strong.

In either case, Cecil was designed to be a physical fighter, so giving him powerful magic would just be overkill.

i rarely ever used holy anyways, rosa would be too busy healing, i had rydia casting spells for me

Cecil is a paladin, who normally are a fighter/priest hybrid, with about 75% of that hybrid being fighter. The priest (white mage) skills are limited and are used for support. Personally, I think he should have things like protect and shell, but that's just me.

Holy (White in the SNES version) is the ultimate white magic spell, and only one who is solely focused on white magic can learn such a spell. Yeah I know Rosa was an archer too, but she's about 75% mage and 25% archer, if even that much.

Well porom learned it too as a white mage. Besides as stated before. Cecil is able to do Holy, but only if he does attack with Lightbringer. Two attacks that do 9999 apiece is very good

And there's no point if u have the lightbringer because u can hit over 9999.
