Where is the LOVE? (May contain spoilers)

Anyway I have read recently that FFXII will contain no romance or at least not a lot and its not focused on.
Now living in Australia its unlikely that we will get the game for a while yet so I dont know for sure.
To me FF just isnt FF without a little loving!
Think about it: FF7 had a love triangle which is still debated today.
FF8 the whole story was centered around it.
FF9 It was an important element as well.
And FF10 had a kind of bitter sweet romance going on.
FFX-2 still had love as an important theme to the story, even though it was silly most of the time.
These all helped add depth to the game and an extra factor to it, which I believe helped make the games as great as they are.
I will probably no doubt love FF12 but will sorely miss the love aspect.
What is everyone elses opinion of it?

I would sorely miss the love element.

Though there's bound to be at least SOMETHING between the male main character, and the female main character

The main character already has a girlfriend and the main female character was getting married. Though she I think is not married anymore, or she was wearing a white dress for some other occasion. But love does not make a FF game, it is the story and characters. Need to get over the idea that love has to be in everything to be a good story. It is about war and revenge, politics, this is not a romance story in any fashion. There might be a little, but that is not the focus of the game.

in real life im agianst it but in video game YAY WAR AND REVANGE

i agree with what you say but a good love story helps to make us belive that this game deals with real issues and make them human.

I know it will be still good. The story will be really interesting but I like a little bit of love in the games. It just adds something to it.
It gets a bit depressing if war and politics and revenge is all the game is about.
Thats what I think anyway.

That's what you get with FF Fangirls, "OMGOOGLES THAT COUPLE IS SOOOOO CUTE!", tch. I seriously hope there ISN'T love in this. I love FF8 for it's story, but it was told much better than the rest. Now though, FF really needs something new other than a elevating relationship. If you want to go gitty with romance go read some ****ing romance novel with that "I can't believe it's not butter" guy instead of bitching about it here.

First off Im not bitching, I was just stating my opinon.
No reason to have a hissy fit at me.
If you dont like the thread dont post in it, simple as that.
I have never said the game will be crap, just commenting on an aspect of the story I will miss.
Chill out, just coz you have a different opinion is no reason to flame me.

Flame? Compared to what I've said in the flame forums that's nothing near a flame. That's my honest opinion, if it came on harsh well I guess you gotta deal with it. Seriously though, fangirls do annoy me a bit. But hey, that's how I am, a straight forward jackass. As for this thread...well it's not that I don't hate it, but rather it doesn't REALLY need to be here, at all. Course opinions an opinion, though do you REALLY have to bring up the issue of "romance"? Romance is best for love and drama stories, but not every FF is like that, duh. Guess there's only one thing you can do about it--get on with your life.

Why do "love" stories always have to be about romance?

There's more than one type of love, like if the main characters were brother and sister, for example. And I'm certainly not talking about incest here!

There's "love" and "in love" which are completely different states of being, FFVII was more about "love" in it's story whereas FFVIII was about Squall & Rinoa being "in love" (or at least that's the way I saw it) like with FFX-2 with Yuna & Tidus, and Lenne & Shuyin (I don't know about FFX).

Actually the First FF games had little if any Romance in them, I don't think it was a big deal in the game till FF7 came along, which I admit was quite a good story and The Last Order kind of shows

that aeris feel in love with cloud cause she really wanted Zach, so in turn the true love for Cloud was Tifa

and 8, 9, 10 tried to make something romantic but it was cheesy and had nothing special to it. It depends on the story cause if its just another bland love story then its not going to be worth it. If you play FF games for the romance then prepare to be disapointed.

Edit: Just so you know I have nothing against it, I like them but the fact is none of the love stories are that great. If they can make something interesting then I'd like to hear it.

Fine, well it seems no one cares about whats going to happen in FFXII reagrding the romantic relationships, so Ill ask another question, what relationships do you dislike in FF and why and will you be glad to be rid of it in FFXII and why?
Im open to other opinions unlike others.

i dun understand why the hell "love" is any important theme to have in all ffs because all other ffs had it.

infact i find it more interesting not to have any love theme for ff12.

yes, ff12's story is not a love themed one

but it does not mean there isn't any love involved. there are, just that it's not that obvious.

Panelo isn't really Vaan's girl friend. I know that's what SQUARE ENIX says about her. but she's more like a really close friend. she spent her childhood with him. you know what i mean?

*anyway to sum it up, yes i've played it, there isn't much love like other ffs
