Illegal Immigration

Right now in TX there is a huge uproar from the spanish immigrants. Their children are now protesting outside of their schools, and their parents are protesting by not going to work. They are in a rage because the US government is deporting them for not having appropriate citizenship for our country.

I am not racists. In fact I am half Italian with an italian/mexican descent, but I side with the government on this one. I do so because They are not paying taxes to support America, but we have to pay our good hard dollar for their children an family to be in school an on welfare. I don't believe in something for nothing in the particular case. It cannot be that hard for someone to go an get citizenship for this country. Espeacially if you are willing to get to America any way you can. It WAS not a problem for me , however, until the protests began. Disruppting my hometown. If you wanna live in the land of opportunity then why do that to our country. It is disrepectful in my eyes.

However, I have been told that people want them to be legalized instead of deported, and even though the law was not changed I feel as if I wanna know how other people feel about this topic. My half-brother's father is in jail right now for being illegal. So this does hit home for me, and to specify it even more....I believe he should have done it the right way.

I don't agree with illegal immigration either. I find that puts a strain on the system. And why should the people who did the proper way get looked at with the same brush? If there's a lag in the system, then I believe that maybe it's time countries took a look at their immigration policies and possbily make some changes.

But I'm not going to feel sorry for people who think they're above the law and they don't have to go through the proper channels.

This immagration thing is getting out of hand on both sides. You got the mexicans who are coming in here illegally and taking money out of our economy and not paying for taxes and then you got the government who won't shut up and help these poor people out.

Malta is also very popular for illegal immigration (I'm from Malta). Too much illegal immigration!

the goverment could better afford to pay for our things if it were not being put into a society as such that is leeching off our government. That leaves us in a tight spot, because they don't replenish what they take. An it was a real big thing in Houston (where I am from). They tried to make it so we could not pass the law to deport them. They lost. They rallied as if we cared. Try to pull that BS in canada

What I think the government should do is is pay mexico's government loans.
You know like pay them so much every month. As for annaxing mexico thats out of the question because we couldn't use that land to use.

I work with a bunch of people who have immigrated into Canada.

One lady from the Phillipines, another from the Honduras. (Awesome food, btw!)

They were telling me that in Canada, to try and immigrate here, they had to pay $5000 just to do the application fee. Non-refundable if their application gets denied. They're welcome to apply as many times as they like, but it's $5000 a pop. (I think that's horseshit. Take the money once you've let them immigrate. Otherwise you're abusing the system IMO)

They have strict rules as well... they're not allowed to apply for welfare or any other sort of assistance (mother's allowance, etc) for 5 years after immigrating here. I can appreciate that. I mean, why bother immigrating and then sitting at home on welfare? Doesn't make sense to me.

They also have to keep in touch with their Canadian Sponser (I think) who makes sure they're not getting into anything illegal, like dealing drugs, health care fraud... stuff like that.

I won't say the system is perfect, but it's alright I guess.

I think Immigration is doomed to failure, think about this:

Why do they want to leave their own country? Because it is rather shitty there, and the reason for that is because nobody in their home country has stepped up to do anything about it, so they think it is just better to move to a country that is well made, normally bringing nothing but hardships for the host country.

What is there to gain by letting them in? At first I am sure you will think that its because they are qualified to do jobs, BUT! what does that lead to? They take all your important jobs so that the people who already live there find it much harder to get a job, and I wouldn't say its because the people that are living there are under qualified, its because the media is promoting americans to be stupid! Thats a whole new topic but seriously they are brainwashed to act stupid and not care about their education.

I am not being mean or anything but Americans are lazy and like having the Mexicans work for cheap labour. They want them Illegal but they don't want them deported. I think the USA is in a huge mess and until they sort out either a system to filter out the bad Immigrants and keep the good, (which I wouldn't recommend but yeah) or become much more active in deporting them.

Well I am not an American so I can not really comment on the Situation but from what I have seen it is in a terrible mess.

My grandfather immigrated to England from Poland, althoguh I'm not sure if it was illegal or not because of the fact that his history is unknown to my family. I disagree with illegal immigration, but at the same time, if immigrants were kept out of this country, my mother would have never been born, and there would be no annoying Chez Daja at TFF.

I just think we should resolve these issues some other way. Mabey it's just our bonehead president holding back or something.

I agree with chez, but I still do not think that "illegal" immagration is okay. Due to the fact that they are creating an uproar. They have no right to complain when they come to this country an do things that are illegal. They should be happy that their kids can go to our schools an get medical for free. They do not ship all of them over the border, they let them use our land an reserves. It just is not right for them to complain to us. Your garndparents may have very well been respectable people, but the way Mexicans are being down here....no wonder the law will not change.
