Wild Cardz

While down in California, I bought the second volume of Wild Cardz, or something, in a "3 for $9.99" deal. I would say it was worth the $3.33 I spent on it, but not much more.

I love buying random anime tapes/DvD's like that, because they're usually good at least for a chuckle, or at least a "what the hell was that?" Or maybe the animation is just pretty. This had the "what the hell?" factor and the pretty factor going for it, at once. I could not understand half the dialogue, and the other half was fairly ridiculous. For example, This one girl said she was going to show her moves, and then another girl came in and said "And I will show off my moves! ...As well!" There was literally like a 2 second pause in there.

There was also this one character who was like some sort of stereotype of some asian ethnic group or another (I've seen this same stereotype in another anime. I don't know what it's supposed to be, however.) I understood about a 10th of the things he said.

Plot:

Spoiler: We're 4 chicks, and we have cool powers that help us protect our kingdom! ...oh no! Apparently some giant chess piece just crashed into the edge of our town, and it's coming closer! Let's go check it out! Oh no, some bad guys are protecting it! Let's do stuff! Oh! Our plan-whatever it was-didn't work, apparently! Oh, and there's also this one evil chick who is seducing asian stereotype guy! Now they're gonna do something! Oh, and now there's this other guy who likes one of the girls, and he's flirting with her and making her blush! ...okay, now two of the girls are inside the chess piece thing; one of them is getting messed up and nearly raped by the thing's protectors, while the other is talking to some guy who controls the thing! There's also another chess piece that this one has to fight, apparently! This chess piece just destroyed that one, but now the guy thinks our main fortress is another giant chess piece! We gotta stop it! ACTION TIME TIMES ONE MILLION BAJILLION TRES! Okay, we won, but one fo the girls is on the edge of death, apparently, as she's floating around in some white place! ...okay, everything's fine now! Bye!

Yeah, that's basically what I get from it. Anyhoo...

It depends on what you're looking for. If you are looking for something Sailor Moonish, with a bit of fanservice, craziness, and very little in the making sense department, then I would probably recommend that you purchase it for no more than $5 per volume. Otherwise, it probably isn't worth your time. I am not particularly unhappy that I spent the $3.33 I did on it.
