Unsung Heroes of FFX (or -- minor but good characters)
I liked Shiva's comment in that other thread I started --
"Kimarhi, the quiet one that everyone always forgets." It irked me that I never managed to level him up in a way that let me use him much; probably if I'd thrown him on Tidus' or Wakka's path, to have him complement Auron with speed, it would've worked better. We tend to forget that he hasn't just protected Yuna since she was a child; he's also been there for Lulu (who is about the same age) and Wakka. They know and trust him, they've grown up with him, and I rather imagine that, being orphans and spending so much time with Yuna as a playmate, they probably look to Kimahri as an old friend, protector, and punching bag. He's always been there for them. He's patient, stubborn, quiet, and intelligent. He understands Yuna as well as Lulu does. He respects Yuna's choices and doesn't dissuade her. He's just there for her, like a rock. Kimahri's a good feller. The other bit character in FFX I really liked was Rin. His unflappability when the ship came under attack appealled to me, as well as his quick assessment to Rikku "I believe you have found some good friends". He was just the guy you buy supplies from, but I made it a point to buy from him instead of anywhere else, because I had the feeling he wasn't just trying to make a quick buck (I could be mistaken) but was, in fact, trying to assist the world despite prejudice (a lot of those Inns were strategically placed for Summoners) and trying to use his proceeds on behalf of his own people to rebuild Home. Also, of course, he tried to save Auron's life. Rin looked a bit silly swimming around in a trenchcoat, but he was a pretty good center in Blitzball! |

Shelinda drives me mad, but she reminds me of many real-life people who are somewhat naive and fall into a state of denial rather that face the horrific truth that their leaders are lying power-hungry twits.
She wants SO much to believe the best of people. It's rather sweet, if dim. I recently got tagged to write a Shelinda fic as part of a challenge. I still want to smack the girl, but...enh. She's kinda charming, in her foolishly good intentions. Also, despite herself, she is helpful in winning the battle by spreading around the word about singing the Hymn. (Even if I don't quite understand how everyone on the planet could hear a ship above the clouds, and vice versa...) |

The unsung hero, sin. LOL!!! nah, i'm not sure anybody realizes the aeons, storyline wise not battlewise, as unsung heros, due to the fact the battle against them takes so long. if you have a weapon with sensor on it, you see messages like, "finally, eternal reast" and so on. They sacrfice themselves for yuna and company to draw out Yu Yevon.

Hello? Shoopuf.
How could you cross the Moonflow without the Shoopuf? No shoopuf = end of world. The shoopuf was the best.... "Ride ze shoopuf?"

in that case, the unsung heros are the feinds, cause without them, the party would be very weak against sin!

I think the unsung hero was...God, i've forgotten his name...O'aka! That's it!
You know, the little supplies guy with the backpack. *MINOR SPOILER AHEAD* Bye the time you reach Gagazet he's gone to prison for Yuna's sake. I thought that was a very good thing of someone such as himself to do; he didn't know Yuna, but yet stuck by her when her journey turned into a battle against the Teachings. O'aka was good enough to hold his faith in this young girl and her plethora of guardians over his religious faith. Kudos to O'aka the Third. Or maybe not. Spira could not function without Shoopufs...or Hypello...who speak, for some reason, like Bavarians...

Awww. Yes. O'aka the 23rd?
O'aka and Rin both give me a warm fuzzy feeling when I buy from them, for different reasons. FFX had the best merchants of any game I've played since Temple of Apshai. Whoops, did I just show my age? ![]() Anyway, yes, he's great. Minor spoiler.... Right near the end of the game O'aka gets out of prison. I can't remember exactly when, but he's holed up in the Sphere Theater at Bevelle, and if you talk to him, he explains his little sister was a Summoner who died on a pilgrimage, and he wishes he could've saved her, so he's very glad to help Yuna. And make a quick buck, but, hey, a man's gotta make a living, right? |

Anyway, yeah, I forgot, he sends his little brother to supply your party and the poor fellow has to wait half way up Mount Gagazet, but I don't remember the bit about his sister. When does he say that?, I'm uhh, just "finished" the trials at Macalania Temple, I guess I'll have to pay more attention when Oaka speaks!. |

Kimahri. Yes, he was the quiet one. He hardly ever said anything. He was an interesting character though. He has a heart of gold, even if he does look as though he is going to tear someone apart. He is Yuna's protector and guardian. He has looked after her since she was young. He is very loyal to Yuna and would do anything for her. He would never let her get hurt because he cares for her way too much. He may keep to himself in the game but there is a very close bond between him and Yuna that could never be broken. Kimahri is a great character. He is also very brave and doesn't let any emotions get in his way.
Kimahri is a true hero!O'aka. Yes... what an interesting character lol. Without him, you would be lost. He is around in places where there are no shops available. He even gives you a discount if you do something for him. You always need to stock up on important items so that you never run out. He is a hero! He may be annoying but he's still a hero! Shelinda...ugh. I didn't like her at all! However, she did give useful information to the group as they travelled across Spira. I wouldn't exactly call her a hero but she was a kind person.
