Well, I haven't played the game thus far, but I know something about the License Board. The License Board is the way the FFXII guys will learn their skills. In this game, you need to buy a License in order to use a weapon, armor, or specific spell: once you buy the License, the weapon can be equipped, the armor equipped, and the spells learned (I recall spells are learned by scrolls, feel free to correct me on that one if I'm wrong). The explicit way you can "buy" these licenses is by gaining License Points.

You can buy Licenses only if they are lit up, and the way to do it is by "lighting" the adjacent licenses around it. The specific amount to light up varies by character. There are two License lists: one has all spells, summons, techniques and supprot/passive skills, and the other has the weapons/armor clearances.

The Licences list is the same for everyone, save for certain instances: Mist Knacks and Summons. Once a character buys that particular license, apparently no one else can.

If on any doubts, check the Web for more info.

The size of the ultimate form of the final boss is inversely proportional to it's chances of actually beating your party. If you agree with this, please copy and paste this valuable piece of info on your sig. AND, if you're evil and villainous...never settle for a big form when a smaller form is more kickass...

*just to correct

the summons can be located at any part of the board, not just one

mist knack and summons don't require any purchase. summons will be attained after defeating them while mist knacks are available after unlocking your licence.
