So.....

Final Fantasy 11 is a game a really want to play. Mainly becuase it's an online game, and I love online games. Here are a few questions about it. One, I hear you have to pay, how do you pay for it? Timecard, monthley, weekley, or just a one time pay? Two, is it worth buying, and paying for it? Three, how huge is the map? Four, is PvP allowed in it?

I can only answer the first two, since I do not subscribe to FFXI.

1. How do you pay:
You pay via credit card I believe, like most online games. I believe they still offer the pre-paid cards at entertainment stores like in the U.S. (Best Buy, EBGames, Gamestop) etc. The pre-paid cards will give you a certain amout of usage before you have to go buy another. But again, I'm not sure if FFXI offers this service. So you may end up having to use your parent's, or your credit card to sign up -- and it's a monthly fee.

2. Worth it?
I personally didn't really want to ever get involved in FFXI. It sounded like a good idea when it came out, and I've heard good things about it as it follows true to a lot of what makes a FF game what it is... but Final Fantasy to me is best played single player. There's a lot of FFXI players here though that can tell you their personal opinion. I'd prefer to play World of Warcraft.

1.) How do you pay...? Pretty much what he said right before me.

2.) Worth it...? Don't listen to him. ;P It's by far one of the greatest Final Fantasys I've played in quite a while. The world map is huge and almost no boundries. A great thing about this is you also don't have to worry about beating it for a while. There are tons of things to do on the side that can make this an RP adventure worth your while. It's also good to have quick reflexes when partying. Most people aren't to fond of it if they believe that they would never get far enough into the story without killing themselves. Basically... it's really sad seeing a Level 49 Warrior with no Sub.

1) Been answered

2)Worth it? I'm the type of person who bounces from game to game constantly. I've been hooked on this game (put over 80 hours per week at times) for near on a full year now...should give you an idea of it. That being said, this game also requires a LOT of time to get far in. You won't get anywhere in this game playing an hour here, 2 hours there. A good party can last 4-6 hours if it gets going good. Not quite as long ones will still last usually a minimum of an hour and a half. Getting anywhere pre-chocobo/airship/OPwarp is a pain and takes forever as well.

3)The maps are rather spacious, yes, they're not all one map tho. You move from zone to zone, via border exits and such. Some maps are absolutely huge tho, taking as much as 10 minutes to run across on foot, 5 on a chocobo.

4) PVP is limited so far to events known as Ballista, and Brenner. There is also Diorama-Abhdaljis Ghelsba, which is a fancy way of them saying 'Ballista by your own rules'. It's usually used to settle arguments of "I can kick your ass!" without having to wait for the usual Ballista rounds. There is a Colliseum in the new areas, but at this time I believe it's only use so far is watching mobs fight each other.
