Sad truth.
Im a big fan of Boy Meets world. And one day I was looking for videos of the series in youtube, which is a really good website for videos. Boy meets world always teaches you something anf the best part is that the videos are funny. When I was going through my search I clicked on a video that I wanted to see, when I was watching it there was something in the video that made me think a lot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8eTIejvnyU What do you think? I think he is abolutely right. I watched it and then I started thinking about FF, FF is for PS and so on, but it is still technology. I think that I need to start thinking about the time that I spend in the computer and video games. He was so right when he said "Shame on you" I felt really down for myself.

Great clip. So very true.
Here we are with a wealth of information sitting at our fingertips, and we are playing FF and chatting on a message board... I have spent thousands and thousands of hours in my life doing these things, when I could have used that time more wisely. Hell, if all of us gave it up and started researching, say, a cure for cancer, I am sure we would be successful a whole lot sooner. Maybe, maybe not.... Really does make you think a bit huh?

it did, and believe me it was not really happy to watch it. I think that I should concentrate more in the other things that matter the most.

It speaks truth, but FF is a bad example as it teachers us stuff, it taught me how to think ways of beating Omega Weapon, Silent Hill taught me how to think when reading a poem, using math you can figure out how much you will level up. I see a lot of charts not for FF but other games showing what does what. I think its mindless shoting games like that we spend too much time on. But I also do agree, we have a lot of information at out finger tips on the web but not much of us are taking advantage of it. I download a few pdf's books and read them occasionally but no way as near as much as I did when I was a kid.
I think that some people do whilst others don't but most of the people do it with things like art and music that all though beautiful don't have much use other than entertainment. And things like MySpace, the only useful thing they teach is how to make a webpage and that has too much limits to it. Most of my friends have an interest in history, and thats what I like to read about, mostly about Medieval europe, and all though that doesn't seem like much I think it is a good inspiration to see what our ancestors did. I think I could be a genius if I put my mind to it, my personality is quite similar to the great thinkers of the past. But I have wasted my time playing video games and whining about it, as do most people online do. I think I should start trying to spend things that really do matter. I like talking in the intellectual discussion, but is it going to benefit me? I hope so... |

He's right... We, the younger generation of day are
growing up with all sorts of technological advancements at our fingertips, but for the most part, it is being used in "defeating king koopa and saving the princess". I'm sure this is pretty much how the older generation would see things, and I can't blame them. I lived out my glory days in highschool as an A student, but all around I'd see student's struggling with simple math and writing essays. Meanwhile, they brag their video game endeavors with their friends! ^^;; Omg... well actually I was the same way, (and I blame my brother), but it all boils down to discipline I guess... I was surely able to balance technology with education and pleasure. And I'm sure if I didn't have a gawking mom breathing down my neck telling me how hard things were when she was my age, I wouldn't be doing as well in a lot of my subjects. Poor Mr. Feeny. I catch his drift though. Also, that was a while ago, so I bet it's even worse right now.
