V for Vendetta (Read First Post)

Hello and welcome Intellectual Discussion about thing/movie called "V for Vendetta".I watched this movie last night and it was pretty good on my criterion. But this thread isn't about movie, this thread is all about everything else what is in the movie. This is thread about Guy Fawkes, V and their philosophical things. If you haven't see the movie, here is the plot from Wikipedia. I didn't want to tell whole plot so this is thats why from Wikipedia. Wikipedias data is based on "V for Vendetta" comic but there is everything that you need.

Nuclear weapons were removed from Britain following a victory for Labour in 1983, sparing it from nuclear attack in a limited nuclear war that left the country mostly physically intact. An extreme fascist single-party state has arisen, called Norsefire and led by the High Chancellor Adam Sutler, that maintains control of the country through food shortages (arising during the nuclear winter), government-controlled media, secret police, a planned economy, and concentration camps for ethnic, political, and sexual minorities. There is an emphasis on technology, especially closed-circuit television monitoring in the mode of George Orwell's 1984. (Closed-circuit television had not yet become common in the UK at the time Moore wrote the series. Today, London has the world's highest concentration of C.C.T.V. Moore also forecast increased computer usage.) When the series begins, political conflict has ended, the death camps have finished their work and have been closed, and the public is largely complacent, until "V" — an anarchist revolutionary dressed as Guy Fawkes, mask and all, with an improbable array of abilities and resources — begins an elaborate, violent, and theatrical campaign to bring down the government.
Now it's time to get this thread started so...

"Peoples should not be afraid their governments. Governments should be afraid their people."

Are he right? Should we stand up to government or should government just be big ****ing thing that we all should afraid? And what would happen to if we do like people in the movie and stand up against government?

And can only one man with good idea get so many people against the government? If can how that is possible? I want your opinions and then I will answer myself...

I think your quesiotn is kind of dumb.
Off course 1 person can change an entire country.
Just look at the past: Che Guevara, Gandhi, even Hitler.
So my answer to his thread is kind of obvious.
To start a revolution this is what is necessary:
- a strong personality
- with good ideas off course
- a famous/powerful person you know
- lots of luck
seriously, there have been so many people who didnt succeed in starting a revolution jsut because they didnt have the (bad?) luck to have lots of people who wanted to join them, only a few that tried and published their ideas could really do something. With a little luck Hitler wouldnt have got that powerful, or Che Guevara would have remained a poor Cuban...

Kinda simple question and obviously, with a simple answer. It has happened so yeah:

its possible

And about your question what would happen if we started a revolution or if we should do this:
again look at the past.

"The past is our tutor, the future is our student..."

Yes, one person with an idea can change the world.
The movie proved this. Once the people united against
their government, there was very little the government
could to do stop the people. And I agree that the people
have the power to overthrown the government, be it
peacefully or violently.
I loved the movie! I found it cool how V was not just a
person, it was a concept. The concept of "V" symbolized
the unity of the people that rallied against that tyranical
government.

But I don't mean peoples who are died long time ago. Hitler get Germany together but he wasn't very good to keep it. V get whole England (I think so) to one place without that he wasn't famous or without good luck. He get everybody to there because IDEA. Not anything else.

Relm is right. If country is broken it needs somebody that presents everybody in everywhere. V was like that. But with IDEA.

Other opinions... maybe against?

A single man or woman can change their country, but it can be also for the worst; look at Bush and Thatcher: the damage they did/are doing is terrible.

One person cannot change anything alone. They always have help; do you honestly think Guevara was on his lonesome? Of course not. Every person trying to make a mark in politics needs a strategist, a second, someone else. You will never change the world alone. One person has an idea, yes, but they alone cannot carry it to fruition.

Should people be afraid of their governments, or should the governments be afraid...why the word 'afraid'? I think it should be replaced with something, or the sentence should be reconstructed; governments need to listen to their people, not be afraid. If they don't listen, the people will rise up. Though, in saying that, nobody speaks out against Bush with anything more than slogans...at least we rioted Thatcher to hell and back.

The power of the people is limited, and they always need a leader, a figurehead; but that hero is never alone.

There are protests, but nobody wants to show it besides the publications that truely want to show fairness.... I wish there were riots in the street, but it appears that average Sue and Joe American dosn't care enough to.

Sorry, but I didn't read the first post ^_^ I just plan on supporting my vote.

Can one man change the world?
Yes one man can. For proof look at Jesus. This one MAN changed the way about 1/4 of the people in the world think today. This one MAN changed religion as we know it today.
I know I'm going to get ton's of 'bad publicity' but oh well.

To me, Jesus is just like Hitler (yes let the flames come). Both MEN took a firm grasp of their time and surroundings and rose up to the top. Jesus took followers, Hitler took followers. For a different reason yes, however, the same concept is here. The only difference in them, other than the obvious, is Jesus was smart about it, Hitler was a moron. See, Jesus took over the whole world... don't think so? There are followers of the Bible and Jesus all over the world. Why do you think this is? Because Jesus took ahold of what he had and used it to his advantage, and in the end his legacy lives on, however, not that he is a man, but that he is a God. Hitler, on the other hand, took ahold of his power and abused it, which is why he's a moron. He could have taken over the world with his power with time, but he chose to abuse a race and religion and ended up destroying himself, along with his followers.

Thats my imput, I would add more but I have to go now.

Ok reading that thread it looks like a subtle joke trying to further the already dead "Final Solution", but from what I can see most people don't really know what it is about, and if they do they would rather live in a shithole ghetto fulled with diseases, killings and utter chaos. But it really depends on the position of the Government, if it was doing it to try better the people then I have nothing against it, but if they do it for their own personal needs then I agree, our government should help us. The American Goverment is a total mess, BUT places like Finland and New Zealand have a decent goverment that does a lot for their people. It really depends on the people, Democracy can only work if the people up top don't have some capitilist moron trying to get their side on it. Voting should only apply to people who have lived in the country for more than 18 years without getting in any major trouble. Well thats my 2 cents

Yes, one man can. =/ I mean, what did V REALLY do? He just showed people that they shouldn't be afraid. Fear may be contagious, but so is courage.

He allowed them to finally stand up and fight for their freedom. It is possible. =o It just takes 1 person to stand up, and you'll be surprised how many follow.
