Question

So I got an emulator and I've been playin FF4. And finally i got to a little past where you get Rydia, and I've been thinking that since her and Kain had abilities already, shouldnt Cecil have some darkknight abilities by now. So then, I look at some guides, and there were like 2 that talked about using D-wave? Im guessin Death wave or something, so do you have anything for him from the begining, is the the game i got or is it basically a typo?

Bralius has levelled up - (lv 1)
This ability is only available in the Japanese version. You have the American version. Sorry, but you won't get any abilities until you're a Paladin.

Aye, depends on which ROM you are actually playing.

If its a direct port of Final Fantasy 2 (US) from the SNES, then you wont see any Dark Wave - if you are playing a patched Final Fantasy 4 ROM straight from the SNES Jap cart then you WILL have the ability first-hand to use. But just a bit of information incase you were wondering what the ability does.

Dark Wave takes 10% of Cecil's MAXHP and deals non-elemental damage to every monster on the battlefield.

Effective at early levels, but, loses its real flare once you get past all the initial areas of the game and need brute force as opposed to spreading the damage out and dragging the battles on longer.

In many IPS patches of the rom they corrected this error, plus, the new GBA release has the Dark Wave as an option - as does the PSOne ports (Final Fantasy Chronicles in the US, and Final Fantasy Anthology in Europe). If you want to grab this new rom you can shoot over to my site, otherwise, go rom searching my good man ^_^
