Is Masturbation Wrong? (READ FIRST POST)

Well, some people having posted or read in the gays-thread might know why I start this thread: Some consider having gay sex WRONG because it doesnt "reproduce", but then masturbation is also wrong according to those people, right?
And please dont start about the christian opinions or the bible, Im aksing for your personal opinion.

I do not intend to joke on this thread, Its an intellectual discussion so dont say things like: "Yeah baby masturbation rocks!!!"

Personally, I dont see why one couldnt please him/herself in this way.
In fact, the age people start to masturbate is often the age that animals start to reproduce, or when in african tribes the men have to show their courage and have sex to produce babys.
So its only natural that in our society mastubration is common starting from that age. Its something you cant help, people ARE meant to WANT sex...

people are animals. people like to pretend that we're not animals. we cover up our skin, paint our faces, pretend to be oh-so-civilized as we figure out new and creative ways to blow each other up - but at the end of the day we're animals, still holding onto the basic animal psyche buried deep inside our over-evolved brains.

sexual pleasure is built into us. sex feels good so we'll do it a lot, and continue to reproduce. it's a basic survival instinct. the purpose of any animal is to reproduce and die - it's the cycle that's kept earth a living and evolving planet for hundreds of millions of years.

but we're also human, which means that we don't just go out, grab a mate, and start nesting. we have all of these complicated social structures set in place to aid in the successful coming together of two people for the purpose of reproduction. we've also realized that you don't even need a mate to achieve a climactic orgasm, and every now and then it's a nice way to relive sexual pressure.

of course having sex is always better than masturbation - especially sex with someone you are (or at least at the time you believe to be) in love with. eye contact, the physical closeness of another human, the heat, the sound - it's an intimate experience. a moment of complete submission, all of your barriers are torn down and you give yourself completely to another person. that is what makes sex special i think, not just the orgasm.

that's why i think there's nothing wrong with masturbation. i don't think it 'cheapens' sex. porn is a different story - but i'm assuming this thread is just about the physical act of masturbation. we're human, but we're also animals - and what's wrong with making ourselves feel so good?

That basically summed it up for me, but I'd also like to add masturbation for men decreases the chance of prostate cancer later in life, no bullshit. Hell, when I was at the age where wetdreams happened almost everynight when I started it decreased the wetdreams to nothing, now my sheets are clean XD. Basically, masturbation can help a lot of things and not just pleasure yourself.

I totally agree, I didnt have any wet dreams EVER.
So I guess I was older than my body was and that I started very soon.
(wich could be right, because right now my body is kind of "green" and young too...)

People are not really animals, at least in my opinion. We're an intelligent species capable of developing art, mathematics, medicine, space exploration, and technology than can aid us throughout life and even save our lives. So if you're referring to animals as creatures that live on Earth to reproduce and live in the forest... no we're much more than that, we just happen to have a sex drive much like animals for reproduction purposes.

Personally, I don't feel masturbation is really wrong. Some people masturbate for different reasons I suppose, but all in all it's because you're horny, correct? I think I heard somewhere only a couple of species on Earth actually 'feel' an orgasm when sexual peak occurs.

Therefore animals in the animal kingdom use sex for reproduction, instead of physical pleasure. Humans are on an entirely different emotional scale, and need (sorry..want) these types of pleasures in our life.

On the topic of it being morally improper, no I don't think it is. Medicinally.. masturbation has several benefits:

• Relieve women's menstrual cramps.
• Help for insomnia.
• Build resistance in the immune system.
• Release mood elevating hormones
• Reduce the number of unwanted wet dreams for young men

You are assuming a lot.

We are not different from animals in terms of sex, The sexual odour, for example, is necessary for one animal to become sexually aroused by another. Lab tests have shown that when an animal is scientifically deodourized, it loses sexual attractiveness to the other animals. The stimulation provided by sexual odour is also enjoyed by man, although he will often deny it.

I do not believe humans are animals. I believe we are beings created in God`s image. The only ones that have sould, but unfortunately the onlt ones that sin.

I firmly bleieve humans are mammals, but not animals.

I do not believe mastrurbation is right, but that doesn`t mean I have never done it. Every human sins, whether it be swearing, having pre-marital (please excuse my horrible spelling) sex, ect ect

It`s not the masturbation itself that is wrong, it`s the thoughts that must accompony it. We have the right ot do whatever we want with our bodies, but the lustful thoughts I do not agree with.

Okay, I SAW it on one of the more popular science channels, be it Discovery or Animal Planet, not sure. In which it was a show about dolphins, and they were saying that dolphins, like humans are one of the few species on Earth who experience sexual orgasms.

But in the event those men were correct, then animals have sex for much different purposes than we do.

Regardless! I'm not against masturbation, which has little to do with sex, and nothing to do with sexual intercourse between animals

We are mammals, which is why mammals within the animal kingdom are similar to us in certain ways. Female mammals have clitorises, and usually experience an orgasm during sexual peak unlike non-mammals.... I'm pretty sure all male-mammals experience orgasm at ejaculation.

But again this is sort of off topic. Masturbation is good for you emotionally, but morally some people feel otherwise.

I was really disgusted when some guy out of my class used a hot girls deodorant. Everytime I smelled that smell and it was him I was really disgusted.

But a womans smell is really important. And I read in an article by a doctor that women physically get turned on by the smell of an unwashed man. This doesnt mean they wont say that they think you smell, cuz theyre not used to a smell like that. And its not normal in our society to like this kind of smell, they THINK they think you smell, but in fact they "like" it...

This is just an opportunity to clear up some misunderstandings about masturbation and to read other peoples opinions on this.

Its nothing different from talking about gays or the purpose of life.
Its a part of life too, so why not discuss about it?
