Crafting? Farming? Dare I say fighting?

Well... we all have our ways of making gil through out the game. I was wondering...

What is your perfered method of obtaining Gil in the game?

Personally... I like to do some Goldsmithing... Big Money. I'am not saying it's te greatest money maker, but if you have the time to put into it... you'll get tons of money back. You can always make Copper ingots repeatedly until the guild stops selling them or until your tired of it at that moment.

I try to do other Crafting skills, but Goldsmithing is really the only one I care for. V_V

By the way... if you perfered method of making money is through Gil Buying... keep it to yourself, please!!!

Heh, they charge waaaaay too much for the amounts they offer.. so unless I suddenly become a millionare I dont think IGE will hear from me anytime soon lol.

As for the topic at hand, however, In recent times the majority of my gil has been coming from constant Beastmen slaughter (namely the Orcs in Davoi, and Yagudo in Castle Oztroja) for all kinds of misc item drops that sell high to NPCs, in alot of cases they sell even more then the AH price that some people place on them. I do the occasional cooking spammathon with Sushi and Mithkabobs but not too much as-of late.. the demand hasnt really been too high in Jeuno (on Alexander) so I dont really bother until the stock is dry..

Garunteed sales that way. Even if it is only 10-15k per pop, I farm all my ingredients for nothing and buy dirt cheap from NPCs.

..overall, though. I like my beastmen slaughtering - its just so damn satisfying you know lol.

2mil for $24.99 isn't bad, really. =O I make that in like.... two hours. =P

But anyways, I just farm on low level jobs for my cash. :\

Ture... I can make that easy in about an hour and a half. But... I would only do so as a gift for one who has helped me. I have been on several occasions, but I mean a different type of help. One that is offered without my asking unless it's just a special task. Only then would I buy gil.

I just feel it best to live this life in a different world and go by its rules like we do here. And yes, I know... no rules saying you can't buy gil, but still...

Well mining used to be my biggest money maker simply because I had the worst luck in the world with camping NMs. They would either never spawn or never drop. So I just mine, I can do it anytime almost and it makes a constant profit. It funded my Adaman armor for my PLD. So yeah, I would be doing that still if the place was not so crowded that I cannot mine.

I used to farm a lot, silk threads or bees and sheep. It was small profits but no one else did it, so it was easy. Now I have the options of doing Goldsmithing desynth, so I do that every so often.

Well, obviously levelling can generate funds, but when I'm really in the need for some gil, I farm. Silk threads are still selling for 70-80k in Jeuno, and I can usually get an entire stack in under an hour. I tend to have decent luck with that, so I'll farm a couple of stacks and then head out to Jeuno.

I put them in the AH for 65k every time, in an attempt to continue lowering the market. Of course, when I do that, I often get 75k or more for them, simply because not many people think to buy low before matching the current prices. Works for me.

Me and a group of friends had a monopoly on 2 rare drops from NMs. Both are timed spawns. The funny thing was that everytime we were in the area, the NMs were ALWAYS there. We realized that no one else seemed to bother camping either NMs. The drops though were worth 1.5 million at first. There were rarely on AH. But once we started farming them regularly and actually created demand by telling other players about these sweet drops, price doubled. 3 million gils divided by 6 almost every night was sweet.

I don't know if my friends still have the monopoly on either drops now. Since it's been awhile since I've played.

In addition to farming those two NMs, we also devote one night a week farming ENMs. Good exp bosts and thge occasional nice drops from doing all the ENMs each week.

Personally, I sometimes craft. Making darksteel ingots was a nice source of regular income to fund my Ranger. Also, since I have a mule in each city, each of them grow a bunch of stones used for elemental wands.

Hmmm, multiple forms of income.
Hnm/gods give me some money from time to time, depends if I can make the ls's runs etc.

Tele-whoring inbetween studying works quite well, since most tele's are 2-5K+ it can give decent profit.

Something else...I am a NM whore. I fraps me killing every NM.Someday I want to have killed every single NM possible (not all solo of course lol). so I camp different NM's all the time. And I just farm the mobs around it as well, placeholders etc. so I always make some cash.
At the moment I'm camping "Dame Blanche" NM in Korroloka Tunnel.
Cotton Cloth stacks 20K a stack, Revival Tree Root 65K a stack. not bad at all ^^
Ow yes my thf is 70 as well..so I got TH2, which helps..a lot.

Besides that I dare to bet that I'm the richest ingame member of TFF in FFXI. My total gear plus cash is worth about 140M.

I am completely against the idea of teleport fees. And as such made a couple enemies of white mages because of it. I do have a white mage and I do teleport people from time to time, but do not charge or ask for any fees. I just say I am doing free teleports. Once and a while I get someone that really wants to pay me after I tell them no severals. Other times I end up with a flower or some kind.

But I tell everyone that it is free, 0 gil. But I hope with the prices of chocobos dropping that the teleports will drop in prices. It was a free scroll that I had, all I did was the quest, nothing more. And teleporting is something I choose to do rather than have to do. No one has to teleport anyone. Anyway white mage that charges for teleports does not need to charge. It is called farming, even a simple white mage and farm a good amount in the right locations. They do not need to be charging for a teleport that is simply using MP.

In RO it was a little of a different story, everytime we teleported someone it used an item and we had to have the items on hand. Though even still, I would simply ask for payment that covered my costs. A lot of times I did not really charge. I mean in that game people demanded money for raises. I find that idea horrible. It maybe a service that they are providing, but the prices have gone out of control.

When teleports were 500gil that was fine, I did not like it, but it was manageable. But 5k for teleports has become obscene. White Mages are just taking advantage of people now. That is what I find so distasteful about the teleports. And has people have said, Red Mages do not charge for Refreshes. Paladins and White Mages have gotten along 41 levels without it is not as though we need it. It is something enhances the party.

I still refuse to charge people for teleports, I am helping someone out. I do not view this as a service, but saving them time in getting somewhere.

I usually end up staying away from White Mage class. Unless I sub Black Mage... then soloing is easy for me. I have yet to even get to 25 on WHM, but... I do not much care for it. If I ever dicided to level it up... it would not be for teles unless I need one my self. But WHM are usually only usefull to me when I party or want to walk around a monster infested area with a raise.

Have any of you ever offered for a raise? I see plenty of people do it at Valkurm on the Seraph server. Do you believe they should accept money for such joyous deeds?

I love White Mage, but I play only to help people, not to whore myself for gil. When I want extra money, I'll put stuff on the Auction House for whatever the going price is (instead of lower like I usually do).

The moment I hit 25, I'll probably be raising all the time. I wouldn't even think to charge for it. To be honest, if I see some low level getting his ass kicked by something while I'm chocoing through a zone, I will hop off the choco to hit a Cure III and stick around to make sure the guy survives.

I'm too nice to charge for WHM skills. ^_^;;

I do not shout that I have a raise if someone needs it if I am in the dunes. But if someone is shouting that they need a raise, then I will give them aid. A lot of time I am my Paladin rather than my White Mage if I am in the dunes, but there is no difference in our Raises at my level. But no I do not ask for any sort of payment for raising someone. I mean they have already paid enough by the experience points that they lost from the death. They already have lost that time they were fighting, I think that is payment enough. I am not about to add insult to injury by asking for gil.

If somebody sends me a /tell with [Raise] [Can I Have It] [Reward] then I'm accepting it...if I see a dead newbie I raise for free of course, but usually the tells I get are for Raise 3.
And well you need to pay for chocobo's..so why not for tele's? And I don't shout my prices I just invite people when they shout for tele + reward.
And seriously...farming as whm is not even worth it when you'
