FFIII remake for DS, how can FFVI and this both be considered FFIII?

i just relized not to long ago, that the remake of FFIII is not FFVI at all in any way the story and character and almost every aspect of the game is different,
from what was known that FFVI was the release of FFIII in america when it came out on Anthology.

how can it be that FFIII has 2 tottaly different games? (and which one is the real FFIII, and if so why did they ever say FFVI was the release of FFIII in america)

does this make any sense at all???

They are basically the same game in my opinion, with minor script changes. (In regards to the Final Fantasy III US release, and the Final Fantasy VI Anthology).

FFIII DS may turn out to be even more different.

Release Dates......they were different in japan then in America so when they(japan) got final fantasy 5 they sent it over here(america) as 3.
