Did Sephiroth truley have evil intentions??

many may think that Sephiroth is truley pure evil, but are you so sure of yourself many think that he just wants to summon meteor and destroy the planet, so that he may take the energy of the life stream and become a god... you may be right on what you think but if you were a reall FFVII fanatic you would know that Sephiroths goal was much deeper that many might find out in the upcoming FFVII games including the movie, what i would like to say is that i beleive the true enemies in FFVII was Shinra Inc.

Shinra, Inc was definitely an evil corporation in FFVII, however as you expressed that once one sees the movie Shinra's and Sephiroth's true intensions are exposed.

Can't really elaborate too much because I don't want to spoil anything for people who haven't seen Advent Children.

Who could truly decide what is good or what is evil? Would it by chance be he who fights to protect... earning him the title of hero? Or would it be he who fights to destroy... earning him the title of Nemesis? In actuallity... they are both evil to each other. One can never fully grasp how evil one is simply by what they do. If I'am to burn down an entire village and kill followers without remorse, maybe 'I' could believe that to be Good. If I were to serve and protect in the name of whomever, maybe 'I' could see that as evil.

Sephiroth's intentions could be described as bliss... Perhaps he didn't see what he was doing as Evil, nor did he see what he was doing as Good. He knew what he was doing and for all we know... to himself... he believed that to be all that mattered, wether Good or Evil. It can be either good in ones mind... or evil, and that is all that matters when it comes down to circumstance.

I don't think he did. I think he was controlled by Jenova the whole time. There's so much evidence supporting this.

That's if he was even ever alive in the game (I'm not saying he wasn't but it's another thing that's debatable).

ahh, and i must agree with you on that matter just like our hero from FFVIII Squall would put it, there is no good or evil just different point of views, very well said Shane, everyone can now perhaps understand Sephiroth and how one of his biggest intentions was to be loyal and to take care of his mother JENOVA... now what if it was your mother? heh heh (think about it)

*shrug* I always thought Sephiroth had a rather noble cause really. Destroy all life, make it into spirit energy, then the world could be reborn. True it would be in his image, but thsoe are hte perks of purifying a rotting world.

I don't go in for the 'Jenova made me do it' theory. Jenova seems as manipulated as the clones, cloud, and hojo himself.

Was his motive evil? If it was, it was an evil so immense that its beyound the threshhold of mere 'pure' evil and out the otherside where it comes close to the divine. Having said which, not seen Advent Children myself yet. I'm waiting for the U.S. copy out the 25th.

But he thinks Jenova is his mother, he is loyal to her. Why would he manipulate/control her? He wouldn't.

I feel Sephiroth was more "warped by his own past". The JENOVA cells inside his body made him a powerful warrior. Hojo must have told Sephiroth from an early age that JENOVA was his mother

. Reading Hojo's texts, he realised that his "MOTHER" was 'the calamity of the skies' and was founded by Proffessor Gast, and kept inside the Mt Nibel reactor, the JENOVA project. As he became more iscolated to find out about his "MOTHER", and how he began to become more dependant on her, her memories inside her cells began to warp his mind. He was alone, and became his warped self from his dedication and allegiance to JENOVA, becoming much like her puppet.

Proof of this theory is with Cloud. As he became confused over his past, in flashbacks and through Sephiroth, JENOVA began to control him like she did Sephiroth.

Spoiler: Due to the JENOVA cells in Clouds body, she could manipulate him, causing him to almost kill Aeris and also to give Sephiroth the black materia to summon meteor.

The fact that Cloud was surrounded by his friends helped snap him out of becoming like Sephiroth, see City of The Ancients inncident.

So no, I do not believe Sephiroth had evil innitions. He became warped by his origins and by JENOVA.

so therefor we should say that the true villian in FFVII would be JENOVA, we all know that in any FF game theres a villain figure, but then theres always the true source of evil in the backstage of the dark plot that takes place. like FFVIII had its Ultimecia, as FFIX had its Necros, like FFX had its Yu-Yevon, i believe that of course in FFVII its JENOVA which was the true source of evil. do you not agree?

Yu-Yevon was merely an ends to a meet. Sure... after you kill him the game ends, as does the story. But I can't really take anyone serious who is of the ability to be defeated in two turns. Nemesis was more of an evil figure in that title than Yu was... wether hehad purpose in the game or Not.

Yu Yevon wouldn't have been half as easy as he was if you couldn't overpower your characters so much.

i guess they were just giving you a break since you had to fight all those other bosses, sin, sin, sinspawn, sin overdrive, then seymour, last would be braskas final aeon! so after all those battles i guess they threw in the last battle with Yu-yevon which you practically cant even lose to... im not sure if you could actually lose with auto-life and all...

After this Post... I shall no longer post in this subject since it is getting off topic with FFX. You don;t have to over power you characters for the two hit kill. It's quite simple actually.

Just have a weapon with Zombie Strike and then use a Phoenix Down on him and 'boom' He will be as good as dead.

Allright, if they didn't alllow him to be Zombified and if they didn't have auto life.

Without them, the battle would definately have been hard.

Anyway, yeh enough FFX.
