Anyone here like Lord of the Rings? Well in my opinion I think it is exciting. War, over one ring. Elves, dwarves, orcs, humans fighting for peace or the ring.

Lord of the Rings are excellent movies in my opinion. They were very well made and they never get boring to watch. Return of the King was just an amazing movie and it was quite emotional to watch. Aragorn and Frodo were my favourite characters. They both went on their own journey and ended up defeating Sauron. They didn't know whether they would succeed or not. In the end they did and it was great to watch. I never read the books but watching the movies was a great experience. I went to a movie marathon of all three movies and it lasted nine hours lol. Fellowship of the Ring is probably my favourite out of the three. Hobbiton is such a lovely place! I love the extended versions of the movie, they're great.

The movies are good, the books are far superior though. My favourite character is Saruman, he is the friggin master, protrayed by Christopher Lee perfectly...did you know that Christopher Lee was the only person out of the entire cast including the writers that actually got to meet Professor Tolkien?
Tolkien gave Christopher Lee his permission to play Gandalf if they ever made film version of The Lord of the Rings. Christopher Lee is the king, and for that reason Two Towers is my favourite, i loved the battles, although Return of the King battle of the pelennor fields was shit, and rushed, and not like the book.

I'm a huge fan of Tolkien's work and I love Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy as well. But when you love a work of litterature that much, there's bound to be some things you don't like about the movies.
Generally I think Peter Jackson's screenplay was very good, but in The Two Towers he went completely over board and included a heap of stuff which was not in the books. I can understand that there are certain things from the book which there was not room for, but he shouldn't add his own stuff instead. (Elves at Helm's Deep anyone!?!) |

I love these movies to death, but I highly disliked how the mainstream treated it.
IE: The 1st One: THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!! The 2nd One: The 1st was Boring. This one rocks. The 3rd One: 1 and 2 were okay but this is a TRUE movie.

The elves at helm's deep pissed me off, Gandalf and the 1000 'footmen' never made an appearance at helm's deep, he was with the rohirrim instead.
the spoiling of the shire, immensely important, as it shows darkness can spread to any corner of the world, you can't just live on the otherside of the continent and ignore it all. also frodo should've got grabbed by shelob in the end of two towers, ending with the movie thinking he is dead, ultimo suspense for a year for all the non book readers.

The spoiling of the shire was actually filmed and everything, but Peter Jackson decided to leave it out in the final version. Which was also why Lee wouldn't come to the premiere. But it wasn't as bad as the elves at Helm's Deep or the Varg ambush on their way there. Leaving stuff out is acceptable whereas adding your own is not.
I kind of missed Imrahil in the third movie though. In the books he was the general of Gondor, but he isn't even in the movie. |

I also missed the Witchking coming through the gates of Gondor, not the trolls. He came through by himself and everyone legged it except Gandalf. Also the main man himself Tom Bombadil not being in the books, he was ****ing hardcore. If i was christopher lee i wouldn't have gone to the premiere either, adding all your own stuff to the movie like jackson did, and then leaving things out that are actually in the book is madness. it really annoys me beyond belief, if i was there, and he said we can't include the spoiling of the shire because we don't have enough time, i would dropkick him out the window and go to the cutting room and get rid of all the shit that he put in that had nothing to do with the books at all, I hope peter jackson gets raped by Uruk-Hai. Didn't Elrond's sons accompany the heroes to the black gates also...in the book....not the movie...

Yes, Eladan and Elrohir joined Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas along with Aragorn's men (the dunedain) already before they went from Rohan to Gondor. They should have kept that in it I think. That's how Aragorn joined the defence of Gondor. As the chieftain of the Dunedain.

well some of my cousins never saw the lord of the rings trilogy. I cant believe it. They are so good. Personally i like the return of the king best. My favorite character is legolas cause he is always calm and can slay his target with ease. but i just cant believe that some of my cousins havent seen it!

My favorite would have to be return of the king. I understand how some of you feel about peter but this was kind of his interpretation of the books. I am sorry but haven't really read any of the books.
