New Arcade System

With the upgrades to the estore going to VbPlaza... there is now a small Arcade room for users to play some classic games when they are simply bored out of their mind ^^

You can access the arcade from the top nav-bar.

This is not to be a distraction for the forum, but a good supplement to help activity and to help the bored. It is just for fun. I will try to list some of the big features below:

Features
--- 50 gold per game (price may change later)
--- top scores, times played, amount of time played, and more extensive data is stored
--- users with top scores will recieve 'crowns' and will appear in their postbit below the ribbons... placement of this will probably change, but will remain there temp.
--- users can assign tournaments to play
--- only 10 games up right now, but more on the way
--- arcade passes can be purchased from the store for a reasonable amount for unlimited play.
--- more details on the way.

Please post comments/suggestions/concerns here as I expect many to unfold. We have had games in the past, but nothing to the extent to which this arcade system goes to. I hope everyone enjoys it. thx

The only thing I would suggest is a damn "Pause" feature. There's no way to stop the games to respond to IMs or anything. This'd definitely be appreciated.

That would have to be coded in the actionscript of the FLASH file, which I'm pretty sure Fuzz cannot control.

Yeah - that would be cool... I noticed a need for that as I was playing online poker tonight... when it was my turn to bet, I couldn't stop any games. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any features, but I believe it would be in the source code of the flash file as hellbred said.

I'm adding a few new games tonight and through out the week... You wouldn't believe how many games there are for this... over a 1000. It is insane. I will just be sure to add the quality, classic ones though.

This is a very good feature considering there isn't many good arcades out there on forums and such. Tetris is probably my favorite, DAMN YOU RELM! I got like...27k =\, oh well. All's fun, GJ Fuzz.

It is just nice to finally have a dedicated server and not worry about any high CPU usage warnings... We can finally add what we want. The types and amount of PHP queries we now have running here wouldn't last a second on a shared or semi shared hosting environment.

Glad you guys like it so far though... Helps pass the time indeed.

I'm thinkin' you should lower the price to 25-33.333.

I'm not sure, It's good that you have a price, 'cause it prevents n00bs from joining just for that... but I'm spending all my cash on games! Not that I really have to worry...

What does everyone think of the price? Fair? Higher? Lower?

Good point SB. I noticed this too. It is odd b/c we have a weighted distribution of wealth. I moved a lot of the games down to about 30, but not all of them yet, b/c I dont know what is a fair price.

However - All noobs will now get 1000 GP to start their account with. I thought this would help, as well.

I dunno - I think 30gp works fine, give or take.
