Help me with a Java applet. Fabulous prizes to be won! *
Yo peeps.
I hope there's somebody here with Java knowledge. I'm making an applet to be run in the Java Applet Viewer (Though I think that's irrelevant to my problem. It's an applet, thats all you need to know. I think.) I won't bother you with the applet's main function. That's all done, but I need to create a feature where by the user clicks anywhere in the applet and the applet closes. Apparently we were supposed to have learnt how to do this in lectures... but I don't remember being taught how. Any ideas, anybody? * Yeah, I'll give a gift to whoever gives me the working solution first.

Oh gosh, it's been ages since I've fiddled with Java. I do know exactly who would know the answer to your question, though. I'll redirect this topic to the 133780x's Java section and let you know what the response is.

I apologize for the double post, but I now have an answer for you, Joe.
izkuru: on to Neo Necrons applet problem [TDS] Argentos: So, can you scrounge up that code that we needed? izkuru: I know _how_ to do it, the thing is... applets don't have a close function >_< [TDS] Argentos: O RLY? [TDS] Argentos: That could be the problem then... izkuru: was doing some research =o how they work is, when the page is closed, the browser calls its destroy funciton izkuru: to let it know it has been killed off and such [TDS] Argentos: Ah. Well, is there a way to write code that forces the page to close? izkuru: but calling it from inside the program does nothing >_< [TDS] Argentos: Ah [TDS] Argentos: Well, I'll inform him ...sadly, it's not the answer you were looking for. Apparently, the only way to close an applet is to terminate the browser manually.

IDEA! Because I am a genius.
If you can set the mouseclick within the applet to emulate the Alt+F4 key combination, that would force the browser (or the specific window in which the applet is, anyway) to close. So yeah, if you make the onclick function to do that... it's worth a try anyway, right? Give it a shot and let me know how it works out.
